Hi,

anyone know where I can obtain a new (or used) rear 1999 4runner liftgate shell ?

also, what is the best official name or term for this part.

5th door ?
rear door ?
liftgate ?

anyhow, mine has a nice fat crushed end. I was hit by a plow.

I took the inside plastic off, and bashed it from the
inside enough so the window will now go up and down, and the wiper
works, but it really looks like crap and I wish to locate a new one
at a decent price. I know it'll cost some loot, but I am having a hard time
finding one...

Good luck if you find one, brand new they run around $800. I think its called just the lift gate shell as it doesn't sound like you'll need the inner parts. I dented mine last summer and am still looking for one but can't find one at a decent price.

 

if the parts supplier ever gets back to me, i might have one for you soon. i hope to buy a hilux surf hatch and tire carrier for my 4runner, and when that happens i'll have the stock one i'll need to let go. i haven't heard back from my source though, he's in the process of importing the parts so it might not be very soon. where are you located? i think shipping would be the real kicker unless you were local-ish.

it isn't too close. I will still be interested in any liftgate that fits a 1999 4runner,

just fyi: sometimes i find car-part.com doesn't have all the junkyard's stuff listed. it might be worth giving them a call and asking them if they have a 4runner on the lot.

and sometimes, calling them doesn't even yield the right info - it's often even better to just go and wander around the lot
