1997 4runner factory amp

Hey im new on here and I just bought a 1997 4runner. I am putting a whole new system and head unit in it, and I was wondering if you guys could tell me where the factory amp is located in the truck. Also, all the wire harnesses I can find have 2 plugs on them, while the toyotas wire harness that plugs into the head unit only has one. I dont know whats goin on, and I dont really want to cut the wires and wire up a head unit manually. Any input would be great.
Thanks
Stephen

Not to blow you off or anything, but if you go to the "Audio, Stereo Related" board and type "Factory Amp" and "Head Unit Replacement", you'll soon find everything that you'll need to know, plus plenty of helpful advice.

Good luck and have fun.

The two harnesses will plug into the two plugs coming out the back of your amp, bypassing it, which is what you want to do. The amp is located behing the ashtray, more or less. The two plugs come out the bottom. You can just leave the amp in if you want, no real reason to take it out. Just follow that one plug out of the headunit, and it leads to the amp. I just changed out my headunit and front speakers yesterday and today, and I'm pretty sure how it was.
