I just brought the truck and the pre owner removed the fan and pully ass. and replaced with a ele fan. The truck overheated on the way home and I am woundering if in removing the pully if he messed up the water pump. Help please the hayne book is showing that the water pump runs of the timming belt Help.

Does the electric fan turn on? Could be a bad fan controller, blown fuse, a bad thermostat, a bad water pump, low coolant level, ....

The e-fan is almost certainly the problem. It does not move nearly the amount of air the stock clutch fan does. What type of e-fan is it?

Are you sure he removed the pulley and not just the fan clutch?
If the pulley was gone I don't think the power steering would work.

My bearing plate went bad so I had to go electric. I used an air cut-off tool to cut the front off the plate where the pulley was so access to the front of the engine is easier. I have the Taurus fan on high speed and it seems to be working good in 115 degree heat with the A/C on. I had to install a bigger alternator to support the amp draw of the fan.
