15 min. wheel trim mod

I've been itching to get rid of the chrome wheel trim but it provides about 1/2" more coverage until I get a set of flares...so I decided to black it out in the interim. I did it in about 10 min (15 including setup ) with electrical tape. if you follow the top of the chrome stretching the tape slightly and only pressing it down on the top edge, you can then smooth it all down carefully and get a nice flat covering.

As for the longevity, who knows. But I'll keep you posted. So far it's lasted a week of freezing temps, snow, sleet, rain, and now spring like rain.

(sorry all i have it these great quality cellphone pics )

Hmmm, interesting idea. You do know that I have a write-up in the tech section on this, right?

That tape is also available in red, yellow and white. Just imagine the possibilities ;-)

Talking

Chrome fender trims/flares do one thing, rust out the edge of your fenders...like this.

EDIT: The rust will be CUT OUT soon enough as I expand the front and rear fender wells 1-3" accordingly.

That rust is all the more reason to get in there and open up your fenders. Our '89 has a good size rust spot from a leaky rear window washer reservoir, now that sucks!

Yeah, but this takes 15 minutes, if that! ha For the door handles I'm definltly thinking about paint since one strip won't do it. after 2 weeks it's holding on strong except on bit that's started to peel, probably b/c it wasn't entirely clean where I put it down and I had to peel it and reput it down. But so far so good.
