Pray tell why do you feel you need a electric fan??

Every one that I ever touched got removed and thrown away

Now I can understand if you have a swap and don`t have the room for the factory set up

What kind of electric draw do you have ??

4x4 sound system ??

Do lots of winching work ??

I feel the same as wyoming9 about electric fans.

All junk, usually quit just when they're needed most.

plan old fashion horsepower! less parasitic drag of the stock belt-driven fan!

You don't think that that 12-13amp load puts any parasitic draw on your less than 100% efficient alternator???

There ain't no free lunch.

I'll go for factory engineered reliability every time.

A properly operating factory fan clutch largely mitigates parasitic draw when the air temps thru the radiator are moderate.

It's your truck do what you want, but I'm with these guys. I've made 400 crank HP with stock clutch fan. It's a romantic idea, but they're usually crap. Stock fans last an entire lifetime of a truck without fail.

I have a Spal electric fan on my 90 Mustang- no issues but I did upgrade to a 130 amp alternator- fox body Mustangs
have always had electrical issues with a stock alternator! I installed this Spal fan well over 17 years ago! Do you guys
think a stock Toyota/Denso alternator can handle an electric fan? I think the Toyota stock alternator puts out up to
80 amps?

Unless you have installed a bunch of large power-sucking mods, the stock alternator ought to handle the electric fan load.

Ok- that is what I thought- no other electrical mods- all stock- just a stereo- low power though!

Assuming that you go with the electric fan, I would install an on/off switch in the cab as you would be able to shut the fan down during a water crossing: it's the only benefit that I see in using elcetric verses stock fan. If you have multiple minor mods to the truck to make available more HP, it might contribute to slightly more power but it would be likely unnoticeable on it's own. As for the alternator, if you already have it, it can't hurt.

Yes- that is how I have my Mustang set up with an electric fan! No issues at all!
Not too concerned with water crossings- only time that happens is if we have a big rain storm and some streets flood!!
Southern Florida is very flat!
Or you are in the mud in the everglades!!!
