'03 pics are back

http://www.toyotaoffroad.net/tando/0...nner_page1.htm

I was given permission by Toyota to put the pics back online.

Yes...Toyota grants permission for you to post the 2003 4Runner images on
your Web site. This decision is based on the fact that your site is an
enthusiast site. If it were a for-profit site, we would not be able to
grant permission...you would have to purchase the rights from the
photographer.

I must say, I like the interior... the available V-8 power/rumble will be awesome but, the outside is just a little to rx300 for my liking, espcially since the Rx is based on a luxury sedan. (don't worry, I know the runner is different, I was just making a point) It has yet to click with me... still looks over done with too much going on... all the flashy lights... still gets a big from me.

Thumbs down

I really like the current body style a lot better than the new 2003 style. It just seems too big and does not have the aggressive "truck" look that the 3rd generation models have.

I am glad that I got a 2002. I was thinking of waiting for the new model and don't regret it at all now.

Ya, the exterior sucks. Interior looks cool. I'll give it some time, maybe it will grow on me. Too much Chevy Avalanche going on there for my liking.

Well, I am going to go against the norm and say I like it! I think it is pretty cool looking. The exterior does look like a Lexus, but it is longer and sleeker, which looks better. The interior is really sweet. Looks like a cock-pit in a fighter jet. I would get one. I do like the 3rd gens, but this one is cool too! Just my opinion, of course! :fireman:

I think it's the same as the Tundra.

Well.....

If you're looking for a soccer-mom mall-runner...bingo! Here ya go! This baby looks pretty plush on the inside, and a bit bloated on the outside. While the overall package isn't bad looking, it is moving further and further away from the type of rig people will be going off-roading in. You WILL see these running kids to their ball games, the mall, and an occasional ski trip. Oh, well. Get used to it, I guess. (might want to hang on to your current 'runners)

This is from the Edmunds link I have on page II of the pictures:

The 4.0-liter V6 is an all-new engine design that incorporates some firsts for a Toyota truck. It's the company's first all-aluminum truck engine, the first truck engine to make use of Toyota's Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) and the first Toyota truck engine to employ a variable intake manifold. The results are impressive: 245 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 283 pound-feet of torque at 3,400 rpm. The engine is also LEV-certified and boasts significantly reduced amounts of lead to make it more recyclable in the future.

The optional 4.7-liter V8 is not quite as new, but it is no less deserving of mention. Debuting in the Tundra pickup in 2000, the iForce V8 has gained a reputation as one of the smoothest, most refined eight-cylinders ever to grace the engine bay of a pickup. Generating 235 horsepower at 4,800 rpm and 320 lb-ft of torque at 3,400 rpm, the iForce engine offers slightly less horsepower but significantly more torque for those who need the extra grunt for towing.
The V8 is indeed the same ones as in the Tundra.
Yeah, it can be super charged.
