Lightbulb 03 Hilux/4Runner Wireless Key tip

My dealer showed me this little trick with the wireless key for my 03 Surf. It should be the same for the 03 Runners.

If you hold down the unlock button on the key for a few seconds ALL the windows will go down. When you release the button the windows stop or keep holding and they will go all the way down.

To raise all the windows, press and hold the lock button and they all go up. You have to keep it pressed if you want them all the way up.

WARNING If you have the moon roof, it will also open and close. HOWEVER, it closes more slowly than the windows do, so make sure you check to be sure the moon roof is closed all the way.

When you try this, don't do it in the middle of the night!

If you have the same system as the '99s, then holding down the button will set off panic mode. You'll get lights and horns until you put the key in the ignition and turn it.

Ahhh! Okay, it sounds like they switched in 2000 then.

Good luck!

I've got a 2003 4Runner, and holding down the door lock and unlock buttons on the remote control doesn't do anything on my vehicle.

Anybody else have any luck with this? I'd LOVE to be able to lower all of the windows before I climb into the car on a 100+ degree day.

I tried that once, didn't do anything. I even tried putting the key in the door and holding it to see if it lowered the windows...nothing... how long did you hold it for before the windows go down or up?

No luck here. Did the dealer do some kind of re-programming for you? If so, let us know the procedure, it's a great tip!

This may help...

Here's the programming manual for the RS3000, which is the alarm system that's in the '96's - 99's:

And, the RS3200 which I think is the latest alarm system:

BT17R,

No, the dealer didn't do any extra programming that I know of.

He really wanted to make sure I knew about the moon roof closing more slowly than the other windows so my leather interior doesn't get trashed!!

The climate here is the same as Miami so the need to put the windows down before getting in is a treat. Today was sunny and 73 degrees for all you snow storm Runners! Beach weather coming soon.

To bad the tip doesn't work on the 4Runners

Yea, thats really annoying, i'm not sure why you can't put it back up. I mean what if you were just dropped stuff off at hte car, then going back to a store. You have to get in the car just to shut the rear window....so annoying...

Ya, I know 1st - 3rd Gen's have this feature, but I don't know about 4th Gen's. That would make it a little bit better than having to get in the car to put the rear window up.

first off...

the remote that woodbert talks about didn't work must be just an import thing ....

as for the rear window.. out remote does come w/ the feature to make the window open but to close it we gotta use our keys to close the window...

also we can open the window from the back using our keys too (dunno why we would want tooooo )

When you're walking out of Home Depot with a load of 2x4's, it saves you from having to get into the truck to hit the button on the console. By letting the wood hang out of the window, you don't have to worry about tying down the door.
