Partially, the front actuator is now operable, however I have figured out the center actuator is acting up and by that I mean super intermittent connection sounding like a short circuit. Heres what I found :
I pulled the actuator cap off and found this, you will notice some metal contact surfaces that are quite worn!
Upon closer inspection it would appear there is absolutely zero contact surface, what happens is there is a gear inside here that's attached to the main of the actuator, this has three prongs what I assume are " + - and signal" and as you can tell when it would try and disengage there is no surface left to do the job.
Also when I pulled this off, I got a face full of snotty watery slime that was absolutely in everything.
So what do I try? The only thing I can think of on a tight budget, since I cannot just find an actuator cap I decided to fill the missing areas with a lot of solder, sand it down (suprizingly it stuck somehow? ) and pop the cap back on, worked! Well ... Sorta. I'm not sure If it's because of my fix but the 4wd light still blinks, I can hear the actuator go in and out of gear now but maybe it's because I've had it in 4wd all winter cuz it was stuck there? I'm not sure, all I know is I should get a real cap some day, i got it into 2wd and unplugged the actuators because it seemed every time Ide go from the key off to the key on, they would re-cycle, effectively messing up whatever setting I had it in when I turned off the truck.
Hey guys, sorry if this is off topic.
does anyone know of a write-up on how to make sure the front and center actuators are in sync with one another? I feel like one trys to sync with the other and vice versa , creating a never ending cycle. I am getting a loss of engaugement (losing all drive like it's thrown into neutral untill I put it into park and shut off the truck and turn it back on) Thanks ahead for the help.
