hello all! So here is my bumper pictures as promised.

It isnt quite finished, I have a few more tubes i plan to add and im going to tie a 1/4" bracket into the stock bumper mount. Should look pretty sweet when all tidied up.

Next update is my new tires!!


I love how huge they are! 15/35/15's. However i HATE the stance.

THIS IS WHERE I NEED YOUR HELP!!
The way i see it, i have two options. one is keep the rims, that the tires are mounted on, and buy wheel spacers. Or i can sell these rims, and buy some new 10 or 12" rims with deeper backspacing.

 

Sell the rims, get 15x12 centerlines. Or something classy. The 80's toyota wheels look out of place on smooth 90's 4runner sheetmetal.

Though my truck has 15x10 wheels with 3.5" backspacing and the 10.5" tires stick out like 3 inches from the side of the truck... so you may want to go 15x15

 

bumper look great! I like the stance of the new tires. Keep this in mind if you go to a wider rim. My rims are 15x10 with minimal backspacing, so the tires stick waaay outside of the fenders and body. As a result of this, the whole body of my runner gets pummeled with everything I drive over. I have noticed that after a winter of salt and road grime, it really started to surface rust.

Same boat here. Need to heal up so I can get back to work and do some overtime. I get away with building the truck if I save some of my OT as well. It's easier to stay in the missus good books.

 

Should I run 10 or 12" rims with a 15" wide tire? I'm pretty sure they are mounted on 10s right now and I don't know if that much balooning is a good thing... the widest tire I've ran is a 12.5 so I need some opinions (:

The idea is get a good set of steelies so I can do some weld on beadlocks down the road.

 

update, measured my rims and they are 8"!! How the dude before me mounted a 15" tire on an 8" rim, ill never know... Dumb...

 

maybe 10s or 12s on the width. Whats harder to do for me is mount a skinny tire on a wide rim, that sucks. Wide tire on skinny rim easier cause the beads easier to set. Atleast for me anyways

 

Not sure if you missed my previous post, But I was saying that I have 15x10" rims with minimal backspacing, and my 33x12.50's look good on them. I would say that you should go 10" but no wider. Also keep in mind that they will drastically stick out of the body, depending on backspacing, and beat teh heck out of the body with everything you drive over.



You got that right chris. Mounting my 33's on the 10" rims is very hard to do sometimes without a good bead seater setting on our tire machine. I love the way it looks but hate dismounting/mounting them.

 

Pretty pathetic i have the tire machine but kyleb is like (get outta the way and let me show ya how its done before ya hurt yourself!!)

 

I have a nice set of 15/12 aluminum wheels I'd sell ya. I can't take no less then 200 for the wheels and shipping would be around 100.00 if you inside the US. I had them on my 87 for several years. They really wear out the body tho.

hello gentlemen, im sorry i suck. I've got good and bad news... good news is that ive kept work going on the rig even though the updates have been forgotten, bad news is that ive slacked on pictures!!!!

 

This is it right after it was chopped, the wheels were just rolled in front of the axles to pose for a cute picture haha

Then i had a good cash flow due to graduation and birthday cards so the only logical choice was to drop the cash on some 30 spline longs, chromo hub gears, trail gear chromo hub studs, arp knuckle studs and a 5th stud trunion bolt kit.


Well not long after that i had the time to finally put it all together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Local mud hole poser shot


Next couple days im going to finish up my square drive shaft, ive got to clearance the ifs double cv thing because it doesn't have enough room for drop. ohh and i need to get a new set of shocks, because i have some 14:" 5150's up front that are just TOO LONG, ive gotta work something out to get some 12's.

In the works:
Rear bumper, kill switch, seal up the cab,
snorkel-either up the cab like the old one or hide it in the cowl with a fat filter on it? Help me decide!!

Looks awesome man! I'm really liking your bumper, I'm planning on making a similar one at some point. Is that a first gen grill I see? EDIT: no its not - looks like it came from a pickup - maybe?
