front hanger is a lil big, and the shackle angle looks too steep.

its also way lower than i thought it was gonna be, are you sure thats 10" of lift?

what are the spring specs?
put the 38's on then snap a pic

wow i didnt even know they had mud bogs down there. next time i go visit my dad (he lives in New Symerna sp?) ill have to go check it out. the mud bogs up here definitely don't have trucks that nice, its just a bunch of 70's model chevy's, a couple f-100s, and a jeep or two

its not exactly 10 inces but its close the front wheel well used to sit 1 3/4 inches lower than the back stock. he used 5 inch blocks in the rear so its exactly 5 inches lift in the back and right now the front fender well is 2 inches higher than the back so that means i should have 8 3/4 lift. give or take.

Well, you sorta did. You did hang a solid axle under there.

However, you have no longs, no high steer, and blocks in the rear. While thats cool, when people said you couldn't do it for a grand, they were including all that other stuff, which will run another grand, easily.

In additon to that what about:

Gearing
Driveshafts
Lockers
Armor
Dual cases and gears
Sliders
Brakes
etc

Realistically, $1k is the tip of the iceberg and you are drving the Titanic.

Sure. What I listed is the minimum to gain any real strength over the IFS he just cut off. The real upgrade here was just getting the stronger front diff. He's still got weak shafts and steering. With the tires on there and the full throttle mudding it looks like they have down there, that front is likely to blow up just like the IFS did.

Who knows though, he may get lucky and never have an issue with it. That happens sometimes.

To the OP: I gotta ask man, why did you run blocks? 63" chevy springs are a dime a dozen at the junk yard, and your fab guy could have built you new hangers for like 10 bucks. That with a good beefy shackle would have netted you 5" easy in the rear, and you'd have had WAY better performance. Blocks are simply the worst possible way to lift anything. And dangerous too.

I was on a run once where a truck wrapped up the rear springs bad, and spit the block out. That thing came outta there like a bullet. For well under 100 bucks you could put the chevies on there and be done with it.

you all have very good points and i didnt forget i needed all of that. this hole post was just about getting it SAS for 1000$ which i did its far from finished i have many more ideas and plans for the near future i just have a budget for this truck i cant spend more than 10k and i still have to swap my straight 4 cummins diesel in it. but just to add i did get gears out of this swap i have 5.13 and they work amazing. i bought 2 new calipers also for this swap i just ended up using the 80s style calipers eventually when i do my 4 wheel disk breaks i will redo the front with the FJ 60 rotors that yall told me about i liked that idea... i dont use or need any sliders i would like to put the truses on my front axel tho i also got both drive shafts made. out of the 7 you listed i got 4 accomplised with this swap. i still want a flat bed which we will start on next and when i redo my bed i will swap the blocks for bigger liefs this was just a trial thing to get it up for now. it will get better in the near future. i also put trac bars in the rear so it would not wrap so i wont spit my block out.... eventually i want to run 40 inch mud grapplers with 22 inch XD RockStars 4.56 gears spool in the rear and a ox locker up front ARB front bumper 4 cylinder cummins motor with a 3 speed military transmition and a military transfer case. (which i already have at the shop) and a tube style flat bed with wooden floor. i think then it will be beautiful and capable at the same time.

Just curious, was the front axle gone through? IE rebuilt or at least checked to see if the bearings were still any good?

5.13 gears? Didnt know such a ratio existed for the 8" sounds like what would go into a Dana 44

1000$ sas isn't un heard of at all. Rear toy springs, an unrebuilt front axle, your steering setup (ie basically free) .. No brake upgrades, homemade hangar/shackles
