hey man i'm right there in your boat. Being young and still learning.

if it were me, i would put a fuel cell with an electric pump in and get rid of the mechanical pump. Get one either is for carb'd motors, or put a regulator in so it drops the pressure for your carb.

i would do a few google searches for an electric fuel pump for carb motors.

I like the truck BTW. It could use some new shoes though.

Hahaha well once the motors all back together and the new beds on and the floors are fixed im gonna put my 33 12.5 15 bfgs on it. But on the subject of pumps my buddy says that the mechanical will work on the re head. that there souldnt be any problems.

haha good deal.

Well that works. Then just take your cam and put it on the re head.

The worse case is, you get the head, change everything over, and it doesnt quite work, redo it with another 22r head... haha
I mean its already broke and apart, what is there to loose?

Right? i mean i can always just sell the head for what i bought it for. then put the money toward another head. i cant wait to get this thing on the road so i can stop driving the gas hog chevy.91 c1500 350, 700r4 trans mint with light rust on cab corners. florida truck. Vermont winters havnt hurt her to bad yet. amazing truck but boy does she like to drink.

pretty mint on the inside too!

hahaha i know exactly what you mean.

This was me having fun in my first truck right before i put new tires on it.
91 2wd long bed
350 TBI
700r4 (that i had out 3 times)

It got maybe 13 mpg. ha
My grandpa gave it to me, it was in pretty rough shape. But i used it as a learning tool for working on cars (as you can see). I did A LOT of work to that thing.

haha yeah that mpg sounds right...
but it is hard to baby it when you have a loud exhaust and a decent amount of power under the hood.

Well went to put it together today. Didn't go as planned. (no surprise) Drivers side guide had a ton of play. Then i looked and it was broke. So started to take the timing cover of and broke 2 bolts. So i don't really know what to do now. Any advice? if i can get the cover off im going to put steal guides in so i dont have to worry about it for a 100k. Anyone know what i should do here? Im think about yanking the motor and just rebuilding it. Someone chime in here.

Sorry about your luck man! I know how it feels when jobs turn into twice as much work... but get the cover off and back the bolts out with easy out or pliers or something. I just finished that job on my truck. luckily it a little better than that... pulling the motor would probably be a good idea but that just means more dollars. haha

I think I'm gonna look for a new motor. The guy I bought the truck from was a tool. I think he ran it with thAt oil and coolent mix for awhile. So I don't think the bottom end is in good shape.
