haha, yea yeah. I doubt this is a wheel bearing, since it only does it in 4wd. Haven't troubleshooted it to see if it only does it with the hubs locked meaning 2wd hub locked mode. I really think it's another one of those weird CV noises. So it should do with 2wd and 4wd hubs locked.

Engine itself is running good. Even my cold start ups in the morning. Unlike last year with the leaky Weber adapter. It does smoke a little more then I'd like, but I know that's a cold weather thing as well. Might be a little water in the gas tank or something like that. Not too worried about it since it's running well.

you have a spare CV right? if you are gonna change that, let me know and we could do it out here. I'd like to learn how to do it. just my schedule is kinda the way it used to be where I disappear for a chunk of days and then re-appear for a few days and on and on and on until i die.

Yeah I have that other spare CV, but I will run into that little issue with the different inner seal again. I can deal with that though.

I might be able to get to looking into it today.

Went for a "test" drive today to see if that noise is still there.....Yup. Didn't try with the hub unlocked yet/t-case in 4wd or with the hubs locked t-case 2hi yet though.

I got the passenger side tire up in the air. Spinning it by hand with the hubs locked makes no noise and it doesn't seem to be binding up. I did try putting the t-case in 4wd. I don't know if this is excessive play or not, but I can move the tire about an 1/8" of a turn or slightly more before I can't move it anymore due to the truck being e-braked. If that makes any sense. But still no noise. Just some minor noise from the u-joints. Which isn't what I am hearing.

Again it's completely intermittent and if I had to guess, it makes more noise if coming off the gas to slow down. Sounds exactly like gear meshing as if you were to through a trans into reverse while still moving forward, only "lighter". I have a hard time believing it's from the diff itself since it doesn't do it all the time.

I wonder if it's possible for a manual hub to not catch right and ratchet itself locked/unlocked while under load. I can hear it clock locked while turning the wheel by hand though.

So you think it might be the Manual Hub intermittently locking up on the end of the CV? Man, sorry it's being so aloof, bud!

Wish this stuff was as easy as, "Hey, B, got an extra AFM..... dropping it off, today, so that you can try to swap it in and rule it out"............. This stuff, what you're into, especially in this cold.... Well, SUX! lol.

Keep us up to date, man.

Went for another test drive. Only does it with the hub locked. Does not do it with driver's side hub locked in either 4wd or 2wd. Does not do it in 4wd with Passenger side unlocked. It DOES do it with passenger side locked and in 2wd. Acting EXACTLY like the drivers side when I replaced the CV and Spindle bushings. But completely different noise. Before it sounded like a rubber on rubber sound. This one sounds dang near sounds like a urethane/hard plastic gear grind noise.

Order parts on Wed. Replace CV/knuckle seals and spindle bushings. And go from there. I know they need to be done anyway.

Mm-Hmm... Sounds like a solid plan so far. Hope it's minimal in the 'NEEDS' dept., Brandon.

Back to my Part numbers / diagram references. lol. I will probably use those other used bushings and clean them up like I did the other side. Seals will be $49.75 shipped.

43211Q SEAL, OIL (FOR STEERING KNUCKLE) 90316-60001 $18.92 Times 2
Replaced by: 90304-76005 or 90316-60004 (different price)

Still trying to figure this one out. Every single thread here has a dead end with people NOT coming back to finish it to ay if they fixed it or not. I hate that crap. Pretty sure the 90316-60004 is the knuckle side and the other one is the CV side which I don't really need.

I found another part number 90304-76002 Replaced by: 90304-76005. WHich is listed this way: http://www.toyotapartszone.com/1995/...ive-shaft.html

90304-76005(MAIN) CV SIDE ????
90316-60004(SUB) KNUCKLE SIDE ????

And I am NOT asking a stupid dealership parts counter. They WILL have absolutely NO clue up here.

43211R BUSH (FOR STEERING KNUCKLE) 90999-70068 $12.60 Times 2
Replaced by: 90381-30006
Manufacture notes:INNER

43211R BUSH (FOR STEERING KNUCKLE) 90381-30003 $27.20 Times 2
Manufacture notes:OUTER

Ordered the two 90316-60004's from Independence Toyota. They are about $35 a piece, but they do have a 10% online coupon and said they have 3 in the warehouse and can then down there tomorrow morning. So $63 is around the same price shipped I'd pay from toyotapartseast or toyotapartszone and I'd have them tomorrow instead of next week. Only cost me a few bucks extra in gas.

Maybe Jerry wanted to help and learn with it, but I just want to get it done. His schedule is so screwy. lol.

I also have to get this alternator out and returned for another new one. Been on 1 month shy of a year and the bearings are bad. Mud....go figure. lol.

Yep, mud, gravel, sticks and sand..... WHO KNEW THEY'D destroy an Alternator prematurely!?!?!?!?!? LOL.

Hey, "Work to live, not live to work... Then pay, with earnings, to play, ..................then pay some more,........and more....then work some more to live and play, etc." lol.

Had a helluva time getting the bottom alternator bolt out. Almost thought it was bent. Just mud I guess. Looks like it will get a good treatment of anti-sieze going back on. Couldn't get it out the top, so had to remove the skid plate. And I have never laughed harder in my life.

This is the way it came off.

As you can see, only about 10% of the mud came with it. Even has the fin marks from the skid plate.

The mud is protecting the skid plate
