thanks man. I was originally worried that the letters were gonna look too big as I didn't actually put it back up on the truck with the stencil on it. The photochop was the only thing I had to go on but this was after I had already done the stencil. In the real photo the leters look more gray than they really are. My camera sucks lol.

If the pic didn't post, check out that link.... My buddy loved this color on my 70 CST Blazer so much, he painted his 89 4Runner that color, and it looked SUWEET! lol. It's called "Dark Olive", a Chevy Green I had. LOVE that color. Tan is a good idea though, especially in the summer months, lol.

Can't wait to see that thing all painted and whatever else you're gonna do. Maybe paint some trim on the bed tan too?

lol I know right, I can't believe I didn't see it earlier. But if I did, I would not have saved myself the $10 from the original price. He had it up for awhile. I guess he had issues getting it working with his 3vze. Found his thread while searching to see if anyone had used it before. Let's just hope it works. And I can figure out the wiring.

Only thing I am really unsure of is the relationship between the crane coil and the factory coil and ignitor. Since I was under the impression the factory coil/ignitor was one single unit.

Guess I am gonna learn something new with this one. But if I can install an MSD DIS ignition on a hyundai, I should be able to figure this one out.

From: Bryan Tx,
I could be completely wrong about this, but I thought that the Crane control box eliminated your ignitor?

that's what I am currently thinking. But like I said as of right now, truth be told, I have no clue as to how the ignition on this thing really works. lol. Timing I can do, dizzy rebuild I can do, wiring I can do but.......

From: Bryan Tx,
There is a little button up at the top of the page that says "SEARCH" you newb! LMAO

Sorry, I would try to be more helpful but I am trying to work on my truck and just keep checking on you every time I have come inside to pee. (It's too cold outside to pee in the yard like I normally would do)

I don't use search, I know it ALL.

No but really, I've been really lazy lately. I haven't had the time to really research it all that much. BUt did google for a little while and almost every HI-6S thread that comes up related to the 22r is on this forum and it's not much. I know BBP said he didn't like it on his and went back to OEM and just used the coil part.

Now if I search for 6AL on the 22r I come up with a bunch of stuff.

6al is more popular, but it should be pretty much one in the same. Have you tried Pirate or I8mud?

From: Bryan Tx,
I don't blame you, I am "read only" when it come to Pirate. Those guys are pretty tough to get info out of to say the least.

I gotta run to get some more fuel for my shop heater, it is getting damn cold out there, lol.

hmmm this is interesting: this was in response to a guy asking about his 84 w/ 22r. I guess that answers my question about the 22r having an ignitor, but tells me there is two ways to hook this thing up. lol.

The Ignition unit that will give you more spark energy is the PN 6200, MSD 6A, as well as the PN 8202 Blaster 2 Coil. With the MSD 6A you will be able to eliminate the factory igniter or you can use the factory igniter to trigger the MSD Unit. Either way it will give more spark energy for better performance and fuel economy.
Thanks,
msdtech2

ut oh....

The HI-6S is intended for use with vehicles equipped with
original equipment (OE) electronic ignition and computer engine
control. It can be directly triggered from the output of the OE electronic
ignition on most 1981-95 cars and 1986-95 light trucks with
distributor ignition and computer engine control.
I guess that might mean I am gonna have to trigger the ignition using the OEM igniter and not just the mag pickup in the dizzy. I hope anyway. lol.
