wd21 sr5's 1994 4Runner Build-Up Thread

I don't work fast so things don't change quickly with it and don't expect a 3.4 swap and SAS within the next month... Wishfull thinking but ain't gonna happen.

only pic I have of original purchase form since it was meant to be a winter beater for my wife then traded in for something newer once the weather broke. Needed headgaskets (suprise!) and bairly limped around the parking lot at work.

After initially gettting it running and a couple little things

Had to add the rear wing(I like em), made the taillights solid red, bedlined the rear bumper(just to hide the nastyness it was), and hard to tell but has 3rd gen ventshades and bugshield.

1st wheel swap

2nd set and foglights added

screwing around at work after who knows how many times of pulling the top of the motor apart.(headgaskets again, knock sensor$wire, intake gasket ripped, multipule hose replacements)

Has LC coils in the rear now too

Got lucky and found a K&N ISR pipe at the pick-a-part

Yea, wasn't gonna pass that up since now I don't have to make a Home Depot one. Also upgraded the fan to one of the bigger ones with the ring around it as well.(still has the chumpy spare for my Pathfinder on it in the picture. It started raining so I was done taking pics after completing that)

Otherwise at this time it is still basicly stock. 3.0, auto, Firestone A/T 31s for now, BJ spacers ordered, completely untouched interior (besides seat covers on the front seats, still has factory cd/tape deck radio), and finally running right . Might be able to start abusing it soon!

Fat Bob's BJ spacers in

2nd hook up front and a skid(factory but better than nothing)

Got a factory roof rack mounted as well. No other real progress lately though, have a pair of manual hubs I'm gonna cleanup and refresh a little before I mount them too.

I know the common is to paint them up purty when cleanign and whatnot after removing them from a doner but I kinda liked how the bases cleaned up with a nice shiny look. Ain't gonna complain for a mod I have $0.00 invested in.

the shaft snapped on the fan pully-fake waterpum B.S. thing

fortunatly the rad was unharmed (makes me happy since it's a newer rad) but the fan bounced around a little destroying the shroud, fan, and bending the lip on the pully over the belt area on the one closest to the block (the alty. one)

had to use my Taurus 3.8 fan I was gonna put in my Pathfinder in (planned on doeing it to both trucks, just the Nissan first).

plans... things I WANT to do are build bumpers for both ends, make a basket for the roof, 33s, SAS, 3.4 swap, more lighting... I have a wish list a mile long (as does my wife)
currently just happy when everything works fairly correctly though. Fixing things as they are necessary and ocassionally getting to do somethign 'fun' to it works for now. Eventually get to get it off the pavement... winter coming means it will at least get some snow action.

Have to go through my phone to see if I have any more updated external shots of it, changed a little from the last one I posted.

haven't updated in a little while
Got a steal on a complete gate

and replaced the center bar for the rear bumper, gotta find ends for it now... I'll get to it.

Got the extension for the cargo basket too and added a couple extra bars to the roof rack to support it a little better.

getting there slowly

Subscribed, awaiting SAS. I piece of advise, keep an eye on that panhard bar after those LC coils. It might be just far enough off to make the drive-shaft hit the gas tank at full flex and droop on the passenger side. Another member on here has had that issue last time we went to Rausch.

Haven't checked here in a while (yotatech periodand most of the interwebs honestly) Just been simple maintenance things as of late (stupid crap like brakes, oil leaks, stupid azz engine light that clears itself anytime I say the word Modis, let alone try to diagnose the dam thing). The driveshaft DOES hit the tank skid at full flex (plus you can just see the rear axle is tracked offset), panhard drop bracket is in my plans of need to make projects to bring the axle back into place correctly. But I did get the little guy to leave the pavement a little

nothing extreme or hardcore, just a little play and and giving the Mrs a starting feel for what her truck is MEANT for!

Planning? yea. Currently doing? Nowhere near! I have plenty of hopes and dreams, but always seem to be lacking time, money, enthuasium, or some combination of them. The visor I got dam lucky on finding at a pick and pull, think I got there verry shortly after the truck arrived it was on. (was kinda funny since I think we got to it RIGHT before people who knew the truck was there did since there was some under-breath talking going on as we walked by with it)

just another date post reminder so I know the day I got agrivated over the fact it STILL won't start... timing is there, has spark/fuel, cranks good. Don't think the 1 vac. line im missing would cause it (have it plugged at the intake for now) or the broken plug for the (i think) coolant temp sensor would cause it. guess it's compression check time...

haven't checked in from sheer disgust and dissapointment...engine is toast. Letting the local CL hit it for some stuff then will be making a part out thread soon enough. Don't wanna deal with shipping just yet but know here is where it will go to most use.
