im part of a 4x4 club/group called NOLB 4x4 (No One Left Behind) went with a few new guys and had a blast.
once the left rear wheel reached the hump it lowered the right front tire back down. flex test lol

this one was one of my favorite. 3.4 supercharged swap

Hahahaha... Yeah, but there used to be. We'd hit the ice tunnel and such.. There are several 'fireroads'/whatever that have been closed off for years. Heck, even in Wrightwood we would find trouble to get into, lol.

thanks. it was super nice up there. got a little red but didnt get burnt. so i got a slight tan haha. now to find time to drop my driveshaft of to see if getting it balanced will make my issue go away. its odd because im using a different shaft but reused the ends and have new toyota u joints.
only thing i could think of was this all happened after i fixed my high idle. since i have an auto even at a stop you could hold the throttle open a little and not go. that also means when im driving at 65mph and let of the throttle. the high idle would keep my revs high enough to keep a little load on the driveshaft from making any noise..
oh well. figures cross. if that still wont fix it. ill keep driving till something blows up.. i just wanna drive my runner lol

Nice pics! I like seeing what these trucks can really do. You've really done a lot of good stuff with your 4runner since having it. I feel kinda guilty having mine and just camping and kayaking with it...but it serves me well and will never part with it.

That last sentence really has me FLUSTERED on my end! lol.... I CAN'T STAND this mysterious gremlin hunting mission I seem to always be on... I mean, I see guys with completely rusted out buckets with less issues than myself! lol.
Oh well.... it'll get figured out, eventually! You'll get yours too, Toyo.... Hopefully for cheap!

That's strange. If for some reason it turns out to be an issue with the transfer case, you could come get the one out of the parts truck. Even if you want the transmission as a spare, it's yours. Just come up and pull it.

hey thanks . i really appreciate all the parts i have gotten from you. i may come up for the trans and tcase for spares since they are kinda hard to find. i really want to get mine rebuild just so i dont have to worry about it in the future. i wanna travel more and need the reliability well enough talk. heres some more pictures i found
we are above the clouds!!

he snap the shot too late but i had my left front and rear right wheel up in the air. i was just rocking back and forth waiting for it to stop so i could back up and take a different line lol

thanks. i know i need to find time to get a hold of this local guy that said he would install them for me
heres a close up shot of how well the rear can still flex using the "zuk" mod. these are soft 16 inch coils from a 98 4runner

this maybe my issue iam having.

Assuming you have a single cardan driveshaft and want to check if the transfer case output and pinion flanges are close to parallel, just measure the distance between the top and bottom of each flange.

"WHAT'S IN THE BOX? WHAT'S IN THE BOXXXXXXX????????????" HEHEHE. ... my movie trivia for the day.... NOPE, no clues and wont tell... And if you're as overwhelmed as me right now, you probably wont care if you don't know, anyhow! hahaha.
But really... what's in the box? lol

have said this but want it all under one post. when i decel/coast from 70mph down to 60mph i can hear a loud rumbling sound. i can get it to happen around 40mph but only as im a mm away from being complete off the pedal. i have already replaced the u joints and no difference. so i swapped the new u joints and the old ends onto another driveshaft with the same issue but seems like at 40mph, its much harder to hear the rumbling. i have put the truck on a lift and accelerated to 40mph and the rumbling started. this was on acceleration and no load since i was in the air.
Ideally, you would like the upper measurement to be 1/16-1/8" less than the lower measurement for a bit of static "down-angle". Then, as the axle (and pinion) tilt up under load, the angles will approach parallel.
my measurements
top: ~47 1/4
bottom: ~47
the issue im having isnt on acceleration. its on decel and coasting at 70 down to like 60 (most noticeable)
I find that loose parts tend to vibrate under no-load conditions, like at speed when you just back off the gas pedal and are just coasting without engine braking. With no load, any loose part will make any vibration feel more apparent. And realize that almost all drive shafts w/ u-joints vibrate while moving even if perfectly balanced and aligned (it is perfectly normal), but if everything is tight, the vibration will be absorbed by the torsional stiffness of the shaft itself. But if there is a loose part, that will let the vibration be felt outside the shaft.
since i have an automatic. when i left off to decel/coast. i have engine braking. i also have new joints, rear transmission mount. didnt feel any looseness at t-case flange or rear pinon flange.
i need 4crawler to chime in. till than i am gonna get my driveline balanced just because i replaced u joints and hey maybe it might help cancel out some of the issue
heres a hit as whats in the box. there are two of those boxes if you need to know
