So…. A friend gave me a ‘92 Yota 22re / Auto truck. It’s incredibly slow, never driven anything like it before. The lack of power is down right astonishing. I live in the Catskill Mountains, accustomed to driving something 3800lbs 350 horsepower / 2-speed semi-auto / highway gears. In this environment the little ‘Yota feels way out of its element.

Something I noticed that should be easy to improve would be by adding a switch to disable the torque converter lock-up. I’ve noticed that by pressing the brake pedal with my left foot just enough to turn the brake lights on disables the computer controlled lock up in third gear. With the converter unlocked it’s possible to climb otherwise difficult hills at 50 to 60 miles an hour without loosing speed. I’ve tried searching this forum and others for a wiring diagram so I could find the wire responsible for the converter lock-up and insert a switch in that circuit. I found one for a different year ‘Yota that suggested the wire I’m looking for should be Yellow with Brown stripe. Poking around at the wiring harness that pugs into the transmission I found a Yellow wire, but no Brown stripe to be seen.

Is that likely to be the ‘droid I’m looking for? Does anyone have a link to the relevant wiring diagram for this particular ‘Yota?
