I know you already ordered a new one but in the future. Bust out the dremel with a diamond bit and cut a flat head slot in it and they tend to come right out. Last one I did actually vibrated out from the dremel so i just kept pushing on one side and worked it out that way. If the break off deep enough you can just zip a shorter bolt in on top of the broken one.

Don't forget to fill that leaky PITA up with rtv around the upper threads on the bolt. Yeah I really hate that hole, it's the old love hate thing, I hate leaks and it loves to leak there when the oil puddles up.
I haven't ordered it yet, gotta wait for payday. has anyone ever bought a timing cover from ted? If so does it come with the bolts or do I have to use my old ones? And one more Question for you guys. Can I put the intake on with the timing cover off? stupid question but I'm bored until the cover is replaced

Also took her top off...... Pictures to follow. I rednecked up a bikini/shade top from a burlap sheet I had laying around. Looks decent. When I bought the truck the back window didn't work. The PO had a wire running from the tailgate to the battery. It's pretty sketchy but it gets the job done. She told me that the window relay was broken. So I pulled the rear panel apart as well as the relay. Everything looked good from what I can tell, I've never seen a broken one so I wouldn't really know. But when removing the top I noticed the bolts weren't in the correct places. I think she put a too long bolt in the pressure switch. Does anyone know how to fix this or where to get another one?

No i dont beleive the bolts come with teds timing cover, make sure all the cover bolts are correct length for the corresponding hole. As for installing intake, is your head still on?? Im assuming it is. If so i dont see why the intake couldnt be installed. Also when you get to that point tightening a fastener where your like... its gonna snap... then stop. just fyi from past experience.

I ordered Ted's timing kit, including the cover and it did not come with any bolts. As kornhusker stated, if the head is in place, should be no problems on the intake. I did the whole timing set without touching the intake or exhaust. Just removed the radiator and oil pan.

Should be smooth sailing. And I have a kit from Ted in my garage that's waitin to go in and it did not come with bolts.

That's the thing the bolt really wasn't putting up a fight. Thats why it surprised me. When tightening bolts I go till they get tight with a ratchet and then I hit them with the torque wrench. I didn't even make it to the torque wrench with this bolt. Yes the head is on. I was told it's easier with head on. For me it was a pain in the butt and if I could do it again I'd go timing cover, head, everything else.

Thanks for the info on the intake guys! I'm starting that daunting task this evening but in the meet time I did get these today

Dont let a hillbilly hook chains to those factory tow hooks ive seenem pull out (to a not so hook fashion) Never seen one snap though. I prefer nylon slings for towstraps, and shackles.

Haha I won't. I've already got a tool/survival bag set up with a towstrap with slings

as for the lights I had just got done talking to my dad about how this summer I'm gonna dig through some garage sales to see if I can find parts for my truck. I went to buy the tow hooks from this guy down the road from me and he had the lights also had some 4.37-4.10 gears and pinions for 20 bucks. gonna go back for those all in all he was a really cool guy who loved toyotas. he had a sweet '89 runner SAS and bobbed on 40's the thing was sick!

The way I understand it the 84 nd 85 are the same. It is the 83 and earlier that do not have some brackets or mounts of some sort. That is a good price for an axle.

You probably saw it already but there is THIS guy up there also, another 250 gets you all the other bits n bobbles. Or 250$ for just the 3rds HERE.

speed bumps....

I have seen that axle. a few times actually, very very tempting for both
I wish the truck already had one underneath so I wouldn't have to even think about it. But oh well. Thanks for all the stuff you post in my thread, I appreciate it.
