forgive me in advance not trying to steal your thread, but what is the point in all the truss work on the axle? from what I have seen in the past these are pretty tough little axles even with 35's!

peace of mind. if you come down hard on a rock, the last thing you want to think about is "did i truss that well enough?"

yes, they are tough, but that's 30 years of toughness. i'd rather spend 2 hours trussing it up than 2 weeks fixing/replacing a damaged front end

A little peace of mind for an old axle, plus it looks good. I am just thinking ahead down the road, 35's- maybe larger?

Nice work Teuf. Cant wait to see it done!

I was thinking about going down to where I went to school and schmooze my old instructor into having one of his students cut me some parts on their cnc plasma... We shall see how that goes....

Subed.

Mine too. I am having a hard time finding time to complete my axle rebuild. But I did secure a driveway / garage space for 3 days or so to complete the install. Thanks for asking.

It took me four days to do the job, by myself, including regearing the diff. I also took about a month to prep the axle and rebuild the birfs plus find another birf. I feel ya on finding the time, I got lucky with a four day weekend

Ok update, axle is done short of needing a new diff filler plug/bolt. My computer died so I was out a week or 2. I am on my wife's computer, that means grease and anti seize on the keys . I have some pics i'll post soon. Nothing special although I am stoked to get this going, and my manual locking hub is all dolled up and painted. Monday I will hopefully cut and weld up the front shackle jig / tube. If that gets done then I hope to schedule the Swap after that. I have to secure a space and get some volunteers.

All went smoothly, other than the diff filler. On to cutting grinding and welding.

your truck is beautiful.. i dont have the patiants you do. i would have had a rusted toast of an axle welded under the front end in 2 days.. then spent the next 2 years replacing parts..
