Talking Taylor's 1993 Fo'runna

Hey guys! My name is Taylor and this is my 3rd Toyota! Previous to this '93 I had a 91 4runner - 22re 5 speed 4x4 and a 1995 ex. cab pickup 2wd V6 auto. I regret getting rid of both of my previous yota's, so I had to get into another one! I came across this one and couldn't pass it up for the price! It's a 1993 SR5 V6 auto 4x4, clean body with no major rust or dents, 213,000 miles, clean interior, everything works, and I only paid $1800 for it!

CURRENT PHOTOS!

THEN, yesterday, I pulled off the running boards, mud flaps, and fender trim. Also, started restoring the paint!

Looking good! What did you do to that paint? Just a wash/polish or some NuFinish? It's looks great!

Just a wash and some Meguiar's polish! Planning on hitting it with some good wax when I'm finished polishing so hopefully it won't go back to oxidation as long as I stay on top of it and give it a wax every few months! Thanks! Planning on some new wheels and tires and a mild lift soon, just doing a mild lift until I can do a SAS here in a few months!

If you are going to do a SAS I would save the money and not do the mild lift...JMO

^X2 on that.. Unless you've already got the parts for the lift, spending the money now on a small lift just seems redundant.

Also, you've got a 3.0 auto 4Runner..which is a dog on its own, and you plan for an SAS. Any ideas on regearing or anything? Just interested

Well, when I say mild lift, I'm talking about 1.5" ball joint spacers up front and cranking the torsions a bit, then 2" coil spacers out back, which only runs around $175, so IMO it's worth it because it'll be a while before I can do the SAS. Yes, I definitely plan on re-gearing, and possibly after the SAS I would like to do a motor swap. I've got a lot of experience with the Chevrolet LS motors and want to swap in a 5.3l/4l60e combo. That's way down the road though...

Whatever suits you, man! I'm sure it'll turn out great! And that 5.3 swap interests me. There's a guy on here that's either swapping in one or is already done with it..couldn't tell you about the progress. But I got to say, I'd LOVE that 5.3 power in a Toyota. With 120,000 and a fully loaded Suburban to carry, my mom's 5.3 has some serious kick. I can't imagine it, or the old 5.9 RT Durango engine she had, in a Toyota. Talk about power..

I got really into drag racing for a little while, and fell in love with the LS motors... I think a 4runner with one would be AMAZING and how they should have came from the factory! haha These V6s are so weak! haha

Here is a video of my old truck!

I was sleeping! hahaha didn't even have my foot on the pedal! They were running some sort of pro tree that night and it lit green WAY faster than I was used to, so I wasn't ready for it. Even on that crappy run it went 12.4 lol

Well, my tires are worn extremely funky and have minimal tread left from the previous owner not regularly rotating the tires like they should have and I'm afraid one is going to let go on me while driving down the highway, so I ordered my first upgrade for this bad boy! Brand new set of 33x10.50x15 BF Goodrich Mud Terrain KM2's! They will be here next week! BEYOND stoked! I will post pics once I get them installed.

I am also going to go through the front end and replace a bunch of stuff and get it realigned before I do any driving on the new tires.

Nice 4R....so if the front diff exploded, does that mean its time for a SAS?

Nice runner you have there. I dream about owning a 2nd gen runner with 22re 5-speed. Red with Black rims.

Love the video.

Thanks guys! It's funny that you say that, because my first vehicle was almost exactly that... Here is a comparison photo of my first 4R (22re 5spd) and my current one (V6 auto)...

I wish it was time for a SAS, but it's my daily driver and I need her fixed right away, so I'm going with a factory replacement for now, sadly... :/
