It should look really nice with the black top on, Brian! Best wishes on that next step!

PS> I'm thinking of paining my mirrors. However, mine are the power ones, .....and they're like a wierd gunmetal gray. Never could find out if they make chrome ones for the power mirrors...but I don't think I've ever seen them, lol.

LOOKS GREAT, Homie!

Wow man thanks, it means a lot to hear you say that! I finally set up my paypal so i can send you the money (or if you're coming down here we'd obviously just do cash). And feel free to ask any questions you may have about paint on here as you never know someone else may have the same question.

What color green are you painting yours?

Thanks again!

Brian....did you ditch the visor yet???

thinking now that the visor painted the same black as the cap might look pretty sharp.

I'm going to get rid of the visor i don't really like the look of it. Not to mention drilling holes in my roof isn't really my thing.

I've seen one that didn't look too bad, ...but I think they just look cleaner with the least amount of plastic bolt on stuff, lol. Like door window visors? ...Hmm, not my thing either. Plus, wouldn't this thing cause mileage drag? My buddy had a roof rack and with the minimal stuff in it, it KILLED his mileage on long trips. Like 4MPG! .......that's why I personally opted for the hitch-carrier for trips, ...just till I get there and 'yoink it off'. Not to mention, I can't put a motorcycle on the roof if I get to borrow one again! hahaha.

I have the 80's visor and it does cause a bit of drag but it was there when I got it and I do kinda like it.

I had one on my 80 Bronco years back and when I took it off to get it painted I noticed a huge difference in vibration and mileage.

so swimmer did you use single-stage paint? the "expert" that's helping me out said paint and a clear coat will be the best finish, last the longest, and be easier to fix any mild to medium scratches......

Yea, i really can't afford to have any worse gas mileage… *sigh* lol and i do like backwoods offroading so its best to not put it on.

Yeah i used the single stage paint, better for what i wanted (to turn the truck yellow) Your "expert" is right though, using a clearcoat over a paint will finish it the best and make it the most scratch resistant. But i figured i'm going to get scratches anyway so a clearcoat would be a waste to me.

Just before the parts truck went off to the scrap yard, i pulled off some more pieces. Cost me a total of $100.

AND I got the keys to my drivers side door!!! Woo!
