I think you can get some good Googleage on that comparison, factoring in year and such. I know a guy but he's on vacation. He'd tell you right off. His head mechanic is there and all they do is Toyota and Lexus.... I'll PM you the number, ok? Give em a call tomorrow and ask him which is best for that year...

Got your PM and i've been reading up on a few Lexus forums. The general consensus is that if you wanna mod get the 300 and if you wanna cruise get the 400. Personally i wanna mod but i just can't seem to settle with the straight 6 when i know i could have had the V8...

SC300 = 225hp
SC400 = 250hp

But the 300 has a HUGE aftermarket base where it is almost nonexistent in the 400

Thing is i can do the mods i like to the V8 as well, it would just have to be a more custom route (which i'm used to because that's what i had to do with my Tiburon). Not to mention this SC400 i looked at had been dealer serviced its whole life and some old woman had owned it. Needless to say it was in GREAT shape.

It was in great shape? Is it sold? ..... Anyhow, it's a personal choice, and while they might have more mods available for the 300, you can still find plenty for the 400 that will get you to like 300HP in NO TIME. Plus, the sound of that V8 with a nice exhaust and cold air? HOLY MACKEREL... My buddy has one and let me tell you, ...it HAULS BUTT! lol. He has Cold air, headers, a chip, flowmasters, suspension kit and some other engine mods and he has like 325HP, plenty of torque and I doubt will ever sell it, lol. I had a Cressida with a Jap. Motor in it, Z series, which was that straight 6 motor... the thing was VERY QUICK... but nothing like my friends V8. TORQUE, Brian, is also an important factor with performance. I'd be interested to see the difference in torque on the ground between both of these. EITHER WAY, you'll have a FANTASTIC Car that will last you a long time. Longer if bone stock, but even with mods, PLENTY long, hehehe.

Yeah that SC400 was in perfect shape. 127K dealer maintained, owned by an old woman. What more can you ask for!? Chef, ask your buddy where he got the headers for his SC400, apparently they are really hard to find. I'm going to test drive some SC300's tomorrow, hopefully that will steer me to one or the other.

Just an idea.... but NOT hard to find, really. Just 650 for stainless Headers on a V8????? Seriously... and, if you end up grabbing one, I'd get that or another catalog IMMEDIATELY, so that you have a launching pad to bounce feedback to other companies on(to compare prices or claim "ROBBERY!" hahaha. I believe southwest speed has items for this car, too.... have to research, but doubt it's too difficult to find ANYTHING you want, brudda...

Bon Audubon! hahaha

That's good news, the way they made it sound on the Lexus forums was that there was NO aftermarket support for the 1UZ

Welp.... as you can see, there are SOME. Maybe not many, but RUSH seems to have quite a few, eh?

I've thought about putting that motor in my 4Runner .... Just would rather do it over a long period of time in a donor/motorless truck, ya know? Keep mine pretty stock(I still have all the exhaust stuff and AFM assembly, etc.) There's a guy in these threads in CA.( San Jose I believe) who's been doing a few now. SWEETEST motor mod I've seen on our Wagons! lol.. Hope you find just the right one, Brian... hope those links can help down the road.... Best wishes on the search!

Hmmmmmmm, ... Honestly? I've NEVER heard of a 22re getting 25mpg... especially with a 1/4 Million miles on it. Were you pushing it half of the way, down hill with it off? HAHAHA, jk. Seriously, I've heard of up to 23, ..... but almost 26? Maybe that new Odometer is wonky! lol.

Wow, I REALLY have more research to do if this is accurate! lol
