Yeah, ...they usually have respect for guys trying to DIY, ...and especially when you say, "I'd like to have it done, just trying to put the money into other things, ...so I'm doing it myself after TONS of research..... But I need to ask a professional, whatcha think about...." Heck, I'd ask them as many questions as they would answer, ya know? Who better to get tips from, besides pros and those on here who have done it, yes, them too! lol.

Do you have a garage, Brian? I did a Grand Am GT/HP with a buddy, and it came out nice, but by learning the hard way, we later did the clear coat with HOT lights in there(rented them from A-1 Rentals) and, when done painting, ....shut the door and left the lights on. This helped it from getting too humid in there, and it helped it to dry MUCH faster than with the previous coats.

Best wishes, Brian!

the MR2 alternator trick was fpr the 3VZ motors... and you had to customize your brackets to fit it...

Hey Brian, .....

Did my Zuk's today, posted a couple pics. I'll post more of the before stuff, tomorrow, and so on. Just thought I'd share with ya so you could maybe get some quick 'up' outta yers for 60$ like I did. I'M REALLY liking them already! Anyway, couldn't remember if you were thinking about doing them in the interim, like myself, ...no time to read back, lol...Thought I'd share with ya in case.

Have a nice night at work!

Mark

Actually, Brian, it's not a big deal. The cutting, with a sawzaw with torch blades comes out smooth as glass, pretty much, ....and when I'm ready to do the OME + SOME, lol, a few months from now, I'll just have them welded back on by a guy I know at the Exhaust shop down the road.

PS> WHAT'S IN THE FREAKIN BOX? hahahaha.

Yes!

I'm picking up a door on Monday. Should be getting my alternator parts soon and then either Tuesday or Wednesday it will be paint time!

thought this might help...

I have 1.5 longer shackles, BJ spacers, longer shocks, and a 2 inch body lift. I am looking into an add-a-leaf very soon. I posted so you can see tire and fender clearance. The tires are 32x11.50x15 that I bought off of craigslist. good luck with the painting.

That's very similar to what mine will be like soon. Looks good. Thanks for the luck!

Not sure, Brian, ...seems fairly cheap for it's amperage. I'm not expert on that, but I've seen lots of guys use the "Mean Green" ...it's got like a hornet on it,...I THINK? lol. I think those are like 250$ for a 140Amp, if I remember right. It's up to you, ...just remember, with those, when they go, you're STUCK, ....no getting home without a tow unless you have a spare. Most of them want the original for a pretty hefty core, ...so I'd say, keep asking around on here until you get an answer/lead you're comfortable with, eh?

http://www.mean-green.com/store/prod...38&SubCatID=50 .....just an example, not EVEN trying to suggest you go this route. I had 180K on my ND, .....was still working, just needed rebuilding.

Yeah it seemed WAY too cheap to me too, hence the posting it on here. And $399 for an alternator is just crazy , i am NOT paying that much! I guess i'll see if i can pull one from a junkyard. I guess?
