Hey bubba.... U got the spacer washer behind the cv axle end c-clip and 12mm brass colored bolt, right? Also, did u do the multi-step spindle nut torquing method, ending at 24# or whatever it is?

I'm sure u did both, just checking. Man, sorry for the avalanche of "one after the other" stuff. Happens at their age.

Lightly greasing the pads resting spots, pins and backing plates isnt too bad, but not sounding like thats ur issue, eh?

Did u inspect thw bearings really well before repacking and such?

Alright well I have not been hearing the squealing so I think mission accomplished. I need to clean up the pass. side now, get all of that water out of there as well as grease the caliper parts. Truck is running good, sounds good, looks good, starts okay haha. I think I posted this on the "You know you drive a yota when" thread, "YKYDATW it starts differently every time." Silly truck. My mom's car is in the shop so she'll be driving my truck tomorrow and I don't know how I feel about that, I need to count up all of the dents and scratches to make sure she doesn't add any.

Chef to answer your question, yes I have the spacer and I did the bearing "preload?" procedure as well. About the bearings, I need to do some research on how to identify "bad" bearings. I should probably just replace them because I abused them when I first got my truck and i'm sure the previous owner did as well.

You can usually see wear patterns that are telling on bearings...Often some play too..... Thought u said they were run dry for a bit... Thats often the beginning of the end for em, quickly!... Seen lots of talk from Terrys87 and couple others on koyos for 20+ bux.... well worth it for preventative maint.

I totally agree! Thanks for the tip man! I think I might be a little obsessed with those hubs... After I go muddin and such I grab a towel and very gently wipe the dirt/mud off the dial/hub body, everything else can stay muddy though hahaha

Soooo the squealing is making its way back... I'm going to purchase some new bearings and pack those in there. I have not pulled my hubs yet but I am thinking they are going to be dry. . . Again. . . I have been using Red-N-Tacky grease for boats/semis, I was thinking it would be a good product but maybe not so what grease do you guys use? Any specific brand you swear by?

I finally have a day off where the weather is nice!! So I think I am going to pull my rear bumper and sand and paint it, hoping to clean it up.. I bottomed out on something and knocked it loose so it looks terrible right now haha.

Also, the seal on the back side of the hub backing plate, is that a bearing seal or a spindle seal? I vaguely remember trying to pull that up for some reason and not replacing it?

The red n tacky you're using is the Lucas Oil brand? I figured that stuff would be pretty good and used it on my axle I built for the Runner. Used it to repack the bearings on the Runner and grease the u joints, too. Before that I used a tube of Valvoline, just the stuff that said disc brake bearing grease, I believe.

Yea it's the Lucas stuff, the odd thing is that it is only my driver side squeaking. I have not pulled my passenger side hub yet but I am curious if it is dry or not? It could be just something going on with the driver side components or like I previously questioned, the seal behind the hub backing plate? If there is possibly too much heat and water being pulled through there and ruining the grease inside...

Anyways I got the rear bumper off and went to town on it... not really. I soaked a green/red scotch brite pad in a bowl of 50/50 water/vinegar and started scrubbing away. I got really tired, really quick haha. Something I thought would be a couple hour project is looking like a couple days. It was a lot of surface rust to remove and there are still some spots that are not coming off, hopefully a new coat of primer will stop the spread. I'm really concerned of spending the time to clean it and paint it only to have it rust again in a month : /

Also, thought this was funny..

Haha, use what you got! I think I've seen dumber uses of hi lifts.

On the seal, I couldn't really tell you if it's good or not without a pic of it's condition and that of the spindle it rides on. Who knows if the seal is ok and the spindle is worn down where the seal rides? Though not likely. Pretty sure it's the hub seal since the outer where your fancy Aisins reside has a "gasket" as opposed to "seal" as you look down the hub parts list.

Haha I used to be the same way! That is, until I started wheeling with an ~8ft tall LandRover! My confidence increased greatly since then haha.

Well a couple updates, I ordered the Koyo Bearing kit x2 from Marlin Crawler but I think I will only use one. I'll pull apart the pass. side just to have a look see but hopefully I only need to do the driver side. I need to replace the seal on the back side of the dust shield/hub backing plate which means disconnecting the BJs to pull it out. That will most likely mean I need an alignment

I am still working on the rear bumper, I lost motivation very quick haha. I still need to finish sanding down the rust and then paint it. I am worried that I will be doing the same thing again in a few months.

Aaaaannnd one more thing... Having the manual hubs has lead me in the direction of buying a rear locker. I wanted to get sliders instead but today for example, my rear tire came off the ground and was only off the ground for a foot in distance and it was bugging me that I had to put it in 4WD just for that, which of course meant locking/freeing the hubs. I am leaning towards it more and more everyday and although sliders would be great, I think I can only buy one at the time. I need tires and a laptop as well, oh and 4 years of out-of-state tuition.

If I were you I'd probably go with the locker, but really the smart move is probably to spend your money on your 4 years of education.
