I bought the same blinkers. The led ones on the bumper. How did you. Wire them to the oem plug? These have three wires

I put the red and back to the green wire. The white to the white wire. The blinker works, but goes really fast. How do I slow it down?

I've been searching for this led flasher mod for my 89 runner. Only thing I found was tbruce's mod for a tundra. Also I read that I can replace the flasher in my runner. Found a few links to some places that sell them. I have no clue which is the one I need though. I'd appreciate any help. Is my flasher unit under the dash too? Will running the new LEDs that fast harm my runner?

No it won't hurt it. Its flashing faster because its pulling less amperage to light up and thinks a bulb is out, so its telling you to find the burnt out bulb and replace it. I'll have to look it up, but you will need to replace your flasher with a lower amperage one.

I've seen a few posts where I can cut something in the flasher relay. Just want to make sure that wont effect the rear flashers. Those are just bulbs.

Stanz, how did you get the lights to stay in the bumper, did you just push then in with the runner fitting? No glue or adhesive?

I'm not in a place that I can look at the wiring right now, but I can tell you that the black ground wire on the LEDs should go to a chassis ground. LEDs will only work if wired correctly, thus use a test light to find the factory wire with juice, hook that to the + wire on the LED. Hook the remaining to the -.

You will also need to put in an inline resistor (from superbrite, ebay, amazon or your local parts store) to get them to flash correctly. LEDs don't have as much resistance as a regular bulb and therefore may either flash slower or not at all without the resistor wired in.

I did my last post on my phone while at work and just realized that I answered the wrong question.

The LED lights just press in and stay puts with friction. No cutting or adhesive required. No need for the rubber grommet.

I've never messed with the flasher under the dash. I just wired these in inline behind the LED bulb:
Amazon Amazon

Works perfect.

I just wanted to say that I absolutely love your runner!! You have done an amazing job building it!!! The diamond panels I think are an awesome idea and I'm probably gonna steal your idea when I get the time to fab them up!
I also am in process of putting in a rear seat since mine did not come with one and has the delete panel but I didn't know where to start with finding seatbelts so your thread helped me a lot, now I know where to find some good 3 point ones!!!

hey stan
what thickness did you go with on the diamond plating for your tailgate?
also what color of SEM paint did you use on the gray interior? (color code on can preferred) looks like it matches really well with factory!

3/16 on the diamond plate.

The SEM color is called Graphite. I used it on the hard plastic, vinyl door panels and the door panel fabric. Just be sure to get everything super clean first.
