Mark, I hope that shifter seat solves your problems, and thanks i hope my R150f install goes smoothly, it should, i'm only really worried about the clocked T-case mounting to the stock cross-member. I will eventually have a custom x-member to make more ground clearance. For now, i need to get this thing shaken down before a 400 mile road trip to the Outer Banks at the end of July. I really don't want to shake this thing down a week before departure.
Update:
Yesterday replaced a head gasket on a 98 Civic...but the day before that...
I installed the pedals for the new transmission. Drilled the holes in the firewall for the M/C and mounted. I still need to make two tabs to secure the hydraulic clutch line to the firewall, the auto truck doesn't have these. I did use the factory mounts for the clutch line that retain the brake lines, so when i am finished it should look totally stock/factory.
Electrical
While I could simply hook the Black and Black/whitestripe wire to the clutch switch i am going to try to also install the Clutch cancel switch. This is a bit more difficult then i first thought because the Neutral safety switch for the automatic is not a ground lift switch like the clutch switch.
The 4WD light indicator seems simple, it hangs right off the transfercase.
The reverse or backup lights are on the side of the transmission as you would expect, but the connector is different then the W56i have, so i just swapped the switches, since they seemed to be almost identical, we will see if this works.
Hopefully this weekend will be productive.

Honestly it feels like i am standing still mostly.
For the past several months i have held myself to a rule: 'do one thing to the truck everyday', and with the exception of a few days total, i have maintained that regiment. This can be very challenging at times...trying to think of something i can 'knock-out' in the small amount of time i may have. And when i say 'one thing' i mean a project or part of a project i have started or that needs repair/maintenance.(no washing or polishing, gazing or drooling).
the good news, i don't have to work on a Civic head-gasket this weekend, so in between my son's shows Friday & Saturday i should have a few hours here and there to stuff this 5spd in place. I have a feeling i will need to fab a x-member sooner then later.
This means a better chance i will drive her to RC the following weekend in all the 5spd glory!

I'm am trying...
I doubt my bumper will be ready by then, and definietly won't have sliders.
We will see what i can get done, i'd be happy just to make an appearance at Rausch Creek

Just remember most of us myself not included
aren't doing anything anyone really should break assuming the truck comes in good condition to begin with. Meaning easy trails and bypasses. Bouncy rocks don't break anything btw.
And I won't have any aftermarket trail armor.

Trust me, i really want to go, and if the truck is on the road, i will be there, atleast for a day.

Can't find flywheel bolts! This is frustrating, I can't install the trans without the flywheel on, I just need two bolts......arrrrrgh!!!!! Maybe I'll get the trans inplace so I can build the crossmember.

Flywheel in
Clutch assembly in and plumbed
Clutch cancel and pedal switch with start relay soon to be wired
Wired 4wd and backup lights
No pictures
Transmission is 3" from being bolted in, jack won't reach, need to lower the truck off the jack stands.
If i get this thing done by Saturday afternoon it will be a miracle.

Alright, so i will be setting up my auto swap to be as factory stock as possible. Below you will see the schematics for how the truck was wired, according to the FSM, and how i will be modifiying the wiring to use a clutch cancel switch. Also i am including the wire colors from the auto trans harness that need to be used for nuetral/clutch start, 4WD indicator light, and reverse/backup lights.
stock

modified schematic

Wires from main automatic transmission a340 88' 4Runner 3.0
Clutch: Black and Black/White stripe
4WD indicator: Green (single wire, ground lift switch)
Back-up lights: Red and Green/Red stripe (Green/Red stripe is 12v supply)
the wire schematic for my truck is anything but accurate, and not even the 3VZE 90-95 FSM is close. I used a multimeter to test each wire till i found the proper combination. The above colors may need to change once i get her on the road for a shake-down, but they seem to be the best choices.
The ECT seems like it is just a paper-weight now, and about a dozen left-over wires from the auto harness. Nice thing about the abandoned wires are that most are homeruns to the ECT that pass thru the firewall, i plan to repurpose some of those in the future...lights, accessories, tank turrets....you know, the usual mods

Hey RBX! I am almost positive I have some flywheel bolts! I will dig around in my shop asap. I KNOW I have some for a 3.0, not sure if they are the same or not. I will make my self a not to look for some tonight and let you know.

Rob,
thanks a ton, but i ordered them Monday and installed them yesterday, so the Flywheel is installed. I put out that request for bolts to try to get a jump on the trans install(trying to make a deadline this weekend, but i don't think it is going to happen).

Trans Is IN!!!
Last night my girl helped me mate the tans to the engine.
Now i have some loose ends to finish...so....while i am at work i will have my 14yr old son do some of this to shave some time...
here is the to do list:
1. Lay down cardboard, and grab some rags & gloves
2. Turn ignition switch to on so you can listen to the radio/ipod
3. Add oil, and filter
a. Prime filter(add some oil to it before installation, do not try to fill it)
4. Drain transmission
a. Big bolt bottom side of trans
b. Take top bolt out, this is how you check the transmission fluid level
5. Add Gear Lube
a. Trans gets 3-1/4qts, when it drips from the upper check bolt, its full
b. Transfer gets 1-1/4qts(maybe more) when it drips from the upper bolt, its full
6. Clutch wire
a. Run two wires, thru driver side firewall (where red and blue wire are, then to battery )
i. One white
ii. One blue
7. Exhaust Bracket on transmission
a. Blue Coffee can on bench
i. Find two bolts and u-bolt to mount
8. Gas tank hatch
a. 3 screws back seat is flipped forward
9. Driveshafts
a. Drive shaft bolts in plastic container, 8 per driveshaft
b. DO NOT TIGHTEN
10. Mount Transmission Crossmember
a. Install transfercase mount
i. Find 8 short fat bolts (coffee can)
b. Find the one that fits, behind the shed
c. Only put two bolts in each side, I have to modify the Crossmember
That is the list he got.
