Phills 88 4runner build
Been out of the first gen scene for a bit, decided to try and build up a 93 runner but decided to can it because, well, it was no first gen.
So I picked up an 88 4runner, 22re, 5 speed manual that had a warped head and had been sitting for 4 years.
A project to say the least. Threw a new motor in it, went through the front end, and testing a slew of sensors is all the further I've made it.
Realistic short term goals would be a small lift, 33s, maybe some trailgear bumpers/sliders, and to pass emissions haha.
Long term would be solid axle, dual cases, 35s, and possibly a 3.4 or 7mgte swap.
Been awhile since I've posted on the forum so hopefully I uploaded the pictures right. Let me know what you think!

Thanks man!
Got to take it out this weekend on its maiden voyage, had to sight in a few rifles.
It doesn't really like the freeway thats for sure. It still needs a lot of work but I'd think a pretty much factory truck should be able to do better than 60 mph lol.

That is a great looking runner you have. Your center picture is upside down. Open a Photobucket account and it will post larger. You should be able to run moe then 60mph. I would check for vacuum leaks. Welcome Yotatech.

thanks, took awhile to clean it up best i could and now its a happy place to start a build from.
im thinking a lot of my issues are coming from the TPS not being adjusted right. just got off work and now im going to mess around with that and see where that gets me. just placed an order for a replacement exhaust system as well. hopefully itll pass emissions and i can cut that cat off for a year or two haha
heres a couple from its first trip out.
and heres a picture of my old 85 sr5. boy i miss that solid front end :/ haha

Hey guys, completely forgot I started this thread. so here is a small update of what I've been doing to the 4runner
first off I repainted the top black. having the fiberglass showing was really starting to bother me lol
came out great but it was dark when finished so no picture
she broke 300k so now its time to start playing with her.
new shoes!
ended up getting one of those obnoxious light bars as a present and decided to make my own brackets for it. heres a shot of them mid project
heres a shot of my favorite addition so far kydex holster for the drivers side door
added some not-so-dummy gauges as well
did a little wheeling with my brother and his XJ
and had to pull him and some other jeep out of the snowy ditch when we got to the top of the mountain haha
arizona has some views
top off out in the desert doing some shooting
light bar lets us shoot for as long as we want haha
just a few out of town pictures
got stuck in some sand, first time getting this 4runner stuck lol
and then, the inevitable. blew the motor...
heres the engine after the internals were finished
engine is in the truck now.
complete rebuild, new clutch, mounts, ect ect.
just buttoning up small things with it now to get it tip top shape.
