driveline

kind of a crappy pic and nobody had any u bolts for 1350 joints,so its just kind of stuck up there.the truck will go and steer now after some work on the steering box mount.A buddy of mine helped me with the frame re enforcements and kind of f ed up the box mount.I think im gonna have to redo it.I hadnt planned on moveing the box forward, but now I mind as well.Probably better that way anyway.

I may attempt to weld in the front two holes in my reenforcement plates, then drill new holes for the box.I really wanted it to be all solid steel.Drilling through welds sucks.I will probably cut holes in the frame with the plasma cutter and weld in tubes for more strength at the box.In theory she should run and drive with the parts I have yea!

The driveline I picked up friday at six states was 28 inches, the measurement I gave them was 26.5.When I called about it they said they measure drivelives a different way and that 28 was correct.Good thing I supplied a blueprint that they kep on file.I got it fixed, but 40 extra miles of driveing.....come on.

Chef, I have never been too excited about this build.I like the weird and unique. It seems like everybody has a truck like mine where I live.I will likley finish this truck and sell it.Or trade for a topless runner (what I wanted all along) with some cash on top.I already have an a buick 215 aluminum v8 and most of a rover fi system and a sm420 that bolts to it.This truck is practice.I must have weird!

Sorry to hear about the fishing trip, that sucks! I just spent 8 days up in Republic Wa, at my parents cabin, when my house sells, and if I can find work I'm thinking of moving up that way, I've had enough of Yakima! Lol.

Steering

Alright fellas here is the checklist
Move steering box forward
Change to chevy 1 1/8 inch master cylinder
Get u bolts for rear drive line
Shift linkage for transmission
plumb trans cooler
shock mounts
Everything is pretty much strait forward, except the steering.I have seen a few different ways to do it.Any recommendations?
Super luck on the mc adapter. My buddy ordered 1 from some place, and they sent him 5! ha ha.
Then for the super fun part.Lots and Lots of the parts used in this build thread are old rusty junkyard stuff.I have a closet full of brand new parts to swap in place of the old stuff.
Also I pulled my seats out to clean the perfect carpet in the truck.Well my dog decided to eat them.Bad dog you say?I didn't want to put them back in anyway, but they were in good enough shape that I couldn't justify replacement, not anymore ha ha.Good Axle.

Sounds like your in the home stretch! Wish I could help on the steering box, but I've never done a hybrid Toyota/chevy setup, can't quite visualize what you're working with, lol. That's funny about the carpet! One less thing on the to-do list, lol

Anybody ever used a reverse rotation gearbox to correct steering geometry.People told me to move my front axle as far forward as possible, and I think Im past the point of useing the stock box.

t case

Today I installed all of the t case linkage,it actually works perfectly.I always test fit stuff, but when it comes to putting it on and having it work flawless, it is rare. The po, did kind of a hack job of the hole.I think ill be able to hide it with a slick cover.
