My junk pile.

Hello all. This is my junk pile. I decided to start a build thread since this truck isn't really stock anymore.

I'm a sophomore in college and have been "tweaking" this thing since high-school. It is my DD that gets driven to the trail, driven to work, and to the grocery store!

specs:

1987 toyota longbed
sas with rear springs up front
5;29's front and rear
f-150 springs reversed
spool in the rear
duals with 4.7's
bobby long rear output

pictures are good right?

Thanks man! Ive followed your build on pirate. As the springs go i haven't had any axle wrap yet. (wrap bar in my near future)

The pinion angle still sucks (driveline vibes) and it sits a little taller than i wanted. I got them for 20 bucks and they flex great!

I love the grille idea. I was gonna shoot for that but instead I just bought one an original one for my 86

Nice build, and wheelin pics! I like the first Gen grill too, looks like it fits really well! Also dig the Japanese rising sun on the tailgate! Welcome to Yotatech, look forward to seeing more if your build!

Back in June i went to Rausch creek for the yearly 4runner jamboree. Drove 800 miles in one trip and didnt really break anything. Got 380 miles on a tank of gas.

sliders and diff armor are on the way.

I'm trying to keep this truck light for dd purposes.

Sliders will be in a 2x2 box section, gotta keep it somewhat different from all the tubed out Toyotas these days.

Also picked up some pizza cutters...... had to save for a year to get these!

What're the specs on that grill swap? It looks SOOO great! I'm considering buying a 1st gen Runner just for the grill swap!

THOSE TIRES! If I were you, I would put as little pavement miles on them as possible. Keep your current tires for the street and save these bad mama jamas for where it counts.

So this build isn't really step by step. I did the sas back in 2012, and didn't take many pictures. I will try and document the progress a little better this time around.

I put the duals in last year. I cheated and bought a used setup already built with a cross-member.

The setup consists of the following:
top shift front case
old school AA adapter
forward shift 21 spline rear case
trail-mart 4.7 gears in the rear case
long field 300m rear output
davez twin stick (very handy)
triple drilled flanges

I did some research and found a third gen 4runner rear drive-shaft fit perfect under my truck with the duals in.

length came out to be 48.5 inches flange to flange.
