mrtexaspete-87-4runner buildup
So I finally found an 87 runner. 22re 212k 5speed.
Have been searching for one for a while now. Ever since my dad bought one in 86 i've been hooked. Now it's my turn pops!
The day I first bought her.
The PO had seriously rigged the vacuum lines. There were bb's, nails, pieces of plastic, etc. In all of the lines. Took half a day just to clean it all out and get it running right. Turns out, timing was off, air fuel sensor was gunked up, top engine cleaner, took everything apart and brake cleaned the snot out of it and now it runs just fine. (for a 22re)
Of course all of the plastics are sun dried... So i did a little afternoon project and prepped, primered, and painted alot of the trim pieces.
The only issue I have had was that I used bumper paint and on the driver side panel it has been getting scratched up. oh well. I'll think of something better i'm sure.
My todo list
Exterior
-light bar, or replacement bumper
-Bikini cover for the backend
-LED light bar to go up top
-2in or 4in suspension
-Replacement rear bumper/tire rack
-and countless other small "fixes"
Interior
-Replace/paint all trim pieces
-Fabricate sunroof cover
-Fabricate shifter/center console
-Door panels (cardboard backing is disintegrating)
-Wakeboard tower speakers on the roll bar (for wheeling/pasture/bonfires!!)
-LED lights all around.(I didn't remember the lights being so dim in these)
-and others that I am sure to be forgetting.

Buildup/ Finding parts!
My 87 has the same problems with plastics, as well as machanicals. Have been sitting in driveway for 11 years, but has been started regularly. Just got it reregistered and on the road. After not to many repairs, passed Ca. smog. One difficulty, is gas gauge drops to E after 1/2 tank is reached! Do you know of anywhere fuel sending unit for our vehicles can be found? Hopefully will be able to post a pic soon!

Okay ya'll, So i'm wanting to put a brush guard or a push bar on my toyota. Also I'm looking into getting an LED light bar to put on it or two individual led lights.
Any suggestions on where to get a good set up? No work this weekend so i'll be wheelin, and wrenchin!

Haven't been messing with the Yota as of late and she hates me I'm sure. I found some time this afternoon to install a Mag light holder here where the backseat "oh crap" handle was supposed to go.
Also Removed this ugly little booger.
Going to the Pick a Part here in town tomorrow to look for a whip antenna. Took the old broken assembly out tonight, got tired of it.

Rebuilt my CV boots, Forgot how messy that job was. Haven't done it since I had my 89 Pickup.
I can't figure out what to do about the broken console lid. Any suggestions?

Well I'm back to yotatech! Sold my 4runner to my dad to buy a wedding ring! Got married and bought it back a year later
We decided to take a 40 mile drive to check out a car show... Welllll. Shame on me for not checking fluids!!!
Apparently while sitting at my dad's the third member started to leak pretty bad. Halfway to our destination.. "Screeeeeeeech"
Bought a complete third member today, stock gearing for 200$ not bad I thought. I've been really wanting to drop in 4:88 for the future mods. Just didn't have the money today for that!
While taking the axles out saw that the inner axle seal on the driver side was shot. A little investigating later found the issue. Axle bearing was shot as well! I've got a mess on my hands now!! A couple quick calls and have 2 seals and 2 bearing sets waiting for me at the local parts store. 74$ to get out of there.
Now I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to get the old bearings out without a press and back in!
Will update with more tomorrow night when it's done "hopefully!"

Third member installed and runs like a charm! Brakes seem more responsive after cleaning off the sludge out of the brake drum (bad seal). I'd say it was a good day.
Also had a chance to do a little superbrightled updating
Here are the led's I ordered from superbrightled.com
Lisence plate bulbs - (2) 67-W15
Speedo/tach. -(3) WLED-CW5
Climate controls - (1) 74-CWHP3
Dome light - (1) 3022-CWHP4
As for the installation it was quite simple! There are write ups on here that go into detail on swapping them out. If you have any questions feel free to ask!!!
