Your dead on I ended up with about 1inch more of travel it's not bad one more question...I still can't get the bottom bump stops to hit the top one do it how do I adjust this ??? Perhaps take more spacers out???I'm loving the more travel it's nice and does not affect my ride quality...I owe you one man in the spring let's wheel man then I'll get ya lunch or a beer something....cheers

 

It's actually difficult to get the suspension to compress all the way, because the rear does all the work in an IFS set up. But, like I said in the post above, when you get the truck flexed out, check to see that you still have travel available in the shock.

You need to make sure that the shock isn't bottomed out, as that will ruin your shocks very quickly. If you aren't bottoming out the shock, then you're fine, and you will be able to hit the lower bumps when needed. In that case, you'll likely only be able to do so when the truck is really crossed up when on the trail.

First off, THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the pics and information. I have been lurking on this and other Toyota forums but this is my first post on this site. I agree with everyone else who posted complimentary remarks to you willingness to just build it, wheel it, fix it, build it again etc. I love your rig. I would love to run 35" tires and keep the truck low AND IFS. I am new to the Toyota IFS building but not new to wheeling or building rigs. I have built many Samurai's with Toyota axles and Sidekicks with IFS. I currently am building a 1992 4runner and am going to start out with 33" tires.
I have spent the last 2.5 hours reading this entire thread and have learned a crapload from it!!! I really appreciate you taking the time to capture pics of your work and writing your thoughts about building the rig, upgrades, mistakes, etc. It takes a true man (IMHO) to list it all, many will just list all the good and none of the mistakes. The steering mod is really great, I see mine at full droop creating some issues when wheeled hard and you have definitely inspired me to wheel it and build a stout replacement when needed. YOU ROCK!!! Very inspirational. Keep up the great work and keep us posted!

Sorry man, haven't been on in a while. This truck is sold off. I'm building a 99 now. I have to update the thread, but its not quite as done up as this one, at least not yet.
