Lumpys 92 pickup Build Up Thread
Well as most of you know I picked up a 92 Pickup in Nov 08. The old girl only had 125K on her and she was a bit beat and tired.
This is how she looked when I brought her home.
A bunch of cancer little tires which I swapped out before I took these and a major engine issue/issues.
H/G went so I pulled the head reseated the valves tossed in a 268 then did the ever so popular intake mod. Fixed the knock sensor and she was a new truck all together.
She ran really well for a while hit some runs at BeaveRun and did really well. hauled a ton of wood for the winter heat...
Had some little issues along the way due to the previous owner's wiring ability. Also removed the radio and added a storage compartment.

Also had some fuel issues due to wiring the knock sensor was due to wiring as well.
Needed a clutch started slipping in 4th and just got worse as I drove. So this thread was created...

So after installing the clutch and getting ready for Rausch Creek, the truck decided not to go.

This time I was not messing around...
Street R/V from Ted!!!
So as time went on She really ran well...until my stat decided to quit working. Overheated and pop when the H/G, my fault should have know better. The last time I did it I was done in a day vs. a weekend so I've gotten pretty good at it. This last time Should have/could have/would have been prevented if I were to of changed the stat I think. Me knowing what to do and being lazy about it is all it was.
This was taken when I changed the clutch, mind you I no longer have the topper and I just use the tonneau cover. Nerf bars off, decent 2wd front fenders (will swap them out someday) sitting on 31's for now.
Now for the upcoming mods...
I have a parts truck I picked up for my 4Runner but I really just want the trans out of it. It's a 88 3.0 5spd. So it should have 4.56's in it, I know the rear is welded. Sooooo I'm going to take the 3rd's out and cut out the spider gears install an Aussie for the rear and swap the 4.10's out.
I'm also looking into doing the Chevy 63's swap. I have 1 broken leaf and the springs are not well at all. I added some cheep AAL just so I can haul wood and pull my trailer without issue but it really made my ride rough! I called the local yard and I can get pair for about $90.00 I think it was. I have seen a 63" Chevy kit for about $100.00, don't recall where not though. So I can get a better ride, longer springs, a bit of lift for less than 1 Toyota leaf pack.
So that's where I am right now, more to come!!!

When I have an entire weekend that I don't have anything else going on...
I guess I could use a hand installing my 4.56's 6 hours out 12 hour Aussie install and gear swap 7 hours home (due to gearing)
Yes, yes, yes I know...

Well Selingsgrove is about 4.5 hours for me...that's just in this side of rt15. Ya if we find a halfway point a weekend wrenching party would be great!! I dunno maybe I can take a few days off Sam take a long weekend and visit ya. I got a tent... :-)
Gotta find something for Christine to do to keep her busy. BigTruckn needs some work done as week though, hmmmmm

So do I...Not too many of that color around. At least out this way.
Weather sucks...Rained all day Sat, flooded coal cellar, then rained all day Tues and today. Flooded coal cellar. Tomorrow were suppose to get 6" of snow. So we'll see how that goes with all the flood warnings.

Well the list of maintenance continues...
The truck was fine on the way to work then on the way home I noticed a vibration, and not the good kind. Felt like a u-joint and yep I was right. The rear u-joint has some play in it. Greased it up and its a little better but either way it's shot.
How much of a pita are these things to change? Looks as if pressed in but I don't see any kind of keeper. Am I going to need a press or just a bit of heat?
I did these on others but they were bolted in not just pressed. The one that I did which was pressed was a bitch and I think I just replaced the front DS in the end.
So what's your thoughts??? And no I have not read on this yet, just found the issue and now time to make dindin.

U-joints replaced...vibrations gone..
Not to my next issue. Over the winter I have developed a metallic click on every tire rotation. Seems to be the Drivers front, 90% of the time. Going very slow or 35-40 mph. Doesn't get much louder just faster.
Going to look into this in the next few days. Any thoughts on this one?

I believe you are about 2 hours from me.
I also believe there is an off-road park in Patton. http://www.rockrunrecreation.com/
Once I get the 4Runner tranny swapped I want to head there.
