Old Carburettor stripped off Intake Manifold, need intake manifold gasket to fit the New Carburettor, unfortunately tomorrow is a public holiday (ANZAC Day) so I won't have the gasket till Saturday, I might go through Nat's shed and see if he has some Gasket material, if not I'll just have to wait !!!!
Second Battery Tie-down TIG'd and ready for dual battery Mod !!!!
Been held up with sourcing a TVSV (thermal vacuum switching valve) as Toyota no longer make them and a BVSV (bimetal vacuum switching valve), and they are notorious with breaking due to under bonnet heat making them brittle, these are used for operating the auto choke and VGR system.
Tomorrow the car is booked in for it registration inspection @ 1.00pm
So I'll be giving the underside of the car a thorough steam cleaning and doing a double check that I have no fluid leaks of any kind and that all lights are working in the morning !!
New carburettor in and plumbed
The nightmare Vacuum Hose Diagram, took 7 metres of Hose to complete this task
4th POS, the TVSV that had been clued back together - unsuccessfully !
I fab'd an Isolation Switch Box that I'll install tomorrow morning if I get a chance
When you say steam cleaning do you mean literally?
As I'm about to do a tear down I want to reseal underneath the body. We get a lot of rust and they have started putting down bromine strips in winter here. It's even worse than salt. It seizes EVERYTHING! My alignment guy says even vehicles a couple of years old are coming in with blots rusted tight onto threads. Seized steering components etc. We'll have East Coast looking trucks here in a few years.
Toyotas are bad for rust so I don't want all my hard work rotting away.
What tool do you use? Is the vehicle on a hoist or do you just crawl on under and make a proper mess?
Thanks Kitty!
You threads make me stoked on getting back down there.
November for a visit actually. Finally getting married in Victoria at a winery. Took 10 years to get her down the isle. Too cheap, didn't want to pay for it.
Edit///
Where did you learn all this stuff?

Not quite a steam clean, 80°C hot water with truck wash added through the Gerni !! Our back driveway is blue metal so I put the car up on ramps and climb under the car, about an hour of grime busting and the car is spotless underneath !!
Just paid attention when I was growing up, my dad used to race speedway and was always tinkering on his cars, plus my husband is very good on the tools, so if I get stuck I can just ask and get help.
Congrat's on being a cheapskate..... I wish you & Sarah all the best !!
Well, the truck passed its inspection and is back on the road, no change from $1100 for the registration, I have no idea what it costs in the states for this, but I just wonder why we get arse reamed here in OZ for anything car related ??
So let the games begin...... 1UZ time

Being a cheapskate is fun. It's made our furniture set up rather hodge podge.
The reaming you get in Oz is why I decided to keep my 4Runner and leave it in storage when I head back down. It will be nice to have a toy waiting for me when I visit.

Nothing bad about that, at least, there'd better not be!
Kitty, love the box. I think your creations are my favorite stuff you do and it makes me a little jealous (in a constructive way) how well you're able to do it.
Crap happens, Misery is an option, the house, the sheds, the cars, everything can be replaced. We were out at our property protecting it when a lightening strike started the fires that destroyed our house, a couple of our neighbors/friends perished trying to save their homes, if we'd been home we'd have probably been in the same boat.
We've spent every spare moment in the last 12 months building a new home on our property, its almost finished.
A couple of bathrooms and bedrooms to finish, carpets and we'll be in. We had christmas lunch in the house, its so close now.
490Hectares, no neighbors, so things are definitely heading in the right direction, so give me a few more months and I'll start getting my Gen2 sorted.
