joecan's 1988 4Runner Build-Up Thread

Well, i believe the time has come for me to do a build up thread. Here is my new to me 88 sr5 4runner, this is my second 4runner due to the first one being in a head on collision (idiot drivers). a little info about the 88, a couple of years ago i was driving to a junkyard to pick up a part for my 71 4x4 chevy truck, i knew my brother was looking for a 4runner and spotted this one on the side of the road for sale. i stopped and asked about it and the guy selling it was moving back to mexico really soon and it had to go. i did the talking for my little brother and got him 1250 down to 550. after that it sat for a few months, my brother got his license and attempted to fix some rust on it and then painted it primer grey, god only knows why. about a year later the muffler fell off and was replaced with a good ol' cherrybomb, shortly after that the v6 engine had a horrible loss of power, we brought it to the shop and what was thought to be a bad timing belt ended up being two of the cylinders were shot, fried rings? i dont remember. well at this time my 89 4runner, which i had purchased due to realizing the dependebility and offroad capabilities of a stock toyota with street tires, had been totalled but still had a good engine. well i traded my brother a running two door jeep for the truck, swapped the engine in, put the body lift and tires from mine and this is how it sits now.

I have a lot of plans for it, but im gonna start one at a time and i figured id start with the rear, i just bought a aussie rear locker and plan on redoing the rear end with new shocks and relocating the mounts. Hopefully my next step is going to be body work and paint so she looks pretty and not, well ugly.
