Thank you, I hope it does too. Before I sell the motor I bought in right around max budget. So my plan is to get it together and sell the motor and detail it just to give everyone an idea of how good you can go for $1000. And then I will probably go until it is where I want it which will most likely be around $13-1400
i gotta know, what did you use to go from the post-pressure washed engine to "clen enough to paint"
the pressure washer isn't a "$300" lowes special it is a diesel powered hot/cold super high pressure self contained unit for cleaning of industrial factories. So that in itself gets stuff VERY clean. But in terms of cleaners and solvents I use dish soap, engine degreaser and oven cleaner. The oven cleaner is the key as it is very aggressive without being too aggressive. You just have to be sure to not get it into the internals on the motor and I blew it out with compressed dryer air. . I have had blocks "hot-tanked" by various places and this is hands down the cleanest engine I have ever had to work with.
Nothing like a Super Red II (at least that's what Dupli-Color calls it) Toyota Pickup. Have you poked around with an old screwdriver to the frame and underside of the body? Tons of spots for rot to start. I oil sprayed mine for most of its life but missed a year here and there and regret it. That some of these trucks still drive around with so much rot is proof of how well they were initially designed.

sorry just saw this, must have notifications off. The frame is 99% solid and is going to be POR15ed at some point. This project is so slow as I am a full time student
Well I think everyone deserves an update and I have some confessions to make. I still have this truck and got the engine swap all done. It rand and drove good for a day or two and then started mixing coolant and oil. Ran a pressure test and it failed the test spectacularly. I am unable to find where it would lose pressure as the headgasket is still intact and cannot visibly see any leaks. This was enough for me to park it in the garage and leave it alone. Then all hell broke loose around the homestead and had a span of two weeks where the injectors went out in my duramax and then the tranny went out In my car. So that effectively put the Toyota in the back of my mind until just a few days ago. I took another good look at it and ran a pressure test where it passed with flying colors. I am at a loss because nothing has changed mechanically with the truck. Hopefully now that everything else on the vehicles I use every day are solved I can justify putting more money into this. I will keep everyone posted.
WELL HERE IS THE UPDATE WE HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR! I am on spring break for the weak and have finally tore the motor back apart and guess what I found... big crack in the timing cover. That is fantastic news as that is a $40 piece instead of having to get a new head or god forbid the block being junk. So I am super happy about that
Waiting on parts to button up the motor. Thought I would get this eyesore out of my way. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve cost my shirt on this body rot.
