My truck has 190k and considering how the last owner took care of everything, it wouldn't surprise me a bit if it was stock and held together with paper clips.

After a 330 mile/6 hour trip to Alabama, which the truck did great on, I'm back home $350 lighter.

Got a front differential with 4.88s and a detroit. And then a ring and pinion for the rear end.

ah man i'm sorry that cluster didn't work out...that's weird that you have an electronic speedo and that 4runner had a cable. I know my truck has a electronic speedo. But truck looks good so far, sweet pick up on the gears and locker

Thanks bud. Yeah my fault for being lazy and trying to figure it out without even looking. Oh well it happens. Probably more to me than it should. For example, the day after this my corner lights came in. 5 Minutes after they got here I was cussing the guy for labeling the auction wrong and sending me 2wd corners. A cigarette and stare down later I realized they were in fact 4wd corner lights, I had just never realized I had 2wd fenders on my little headache. I REALLY need to start double checking BEFORE I pay for things.

On a positive note, o2 sensor came in today so that'll be on tomorrow and hopefully get rid of my check engine light.
Also got a new clutch pedal pad! Foot won't slip off when I try to break the sound barrier now.
The correct corner lights should be here next week as well.

Sadly that's all I got for the past little bit. MAYBE bj spacers this weekend if I find time.
And who knows about the gear swap.

I was about 2 hours late on picking up an 89 with a blown motor for $500 earlier today. Probably for the best though because my plan was to strip it and scrap it just for some extra cash. Maybe it'll live to see another day with the new owner.

O2 sensor put on and no more check engine light.

Still didnt get my bj spacers on, maybe one day.

So those are next on the list, HOPEFULLY this weekend coming up. Didn't have access to the shop I was planning on using this weekend.

Corner lights oughta be here this week, the right ones, FINALLY.

Gonna keep looking for a 4.88 complete rear for a few weeks, if I don't find one then I'll just pay the guy to swap the gears in mine.

I was going to buy a radio and speakers this week but my wife won't listen when I tell her not to worry about a Christmas present, so I'll just let her get me one. I kinda want one of those little touch screen ones with the big screen, but don't know anything about any of that mess. Anyone know of anyone that makes good 4" speakers?

Got a couple questions for anyone that'll help. Figured id ask here in the safety of my own thread to avoid getting my head bit off.

Truck has no lift in the front as of now and has 32x11.5s. I beat the piss out of the pinch welds and don't rub at full lock. However if I'm turned pretty far coming into my driveway, the bump causes a little rub. So I'm thinking once this truck is finally trail ready that is gonna turn into a lot of rub. Now here's were my mess of questions comes into play.

1) Will my bj spacers take care of the little rubbing? Seems like its on the rear part of the fender.

2) Backspacing confuses the ˟˟˟˟ out of me in all honesty. I have no idea what it is on my current rims and don't really no how to check. What is the ideal rim width and backspacing for this tire size?

3) Wheel spacers? Everyone around here just wants to stick the biggest ones they can find to crawl around the parking lot. What is the actual purpose of these?

4) I plan to run 33x10.5s on down the road. For now I've got other things I'm more worried and my craigslist find 32s have plenty of life left. By then my spacers will be on and I'm hoping to be content for atleast a little bit. Now will that setup rub?

I realize this all ties in together and I'm one AHA away from understanding, but a little help would be nice. Yall have been great so far, and I appreciate it all.

PS: I tried looking through that mess of an official ifs tire size thread, but gave up.

EDIT: 15" rims

This may help, less backspacing would bring the tire out of the wheel well. Less rubbing??

And there was my aha! Feel dumb but that second picture helped. Now what is a good range to stay in as far new wheels go?

There is where you measure your rims you have on and figure from there. You need a starting point. there is no average so to speak.

Gives me a project for tomorrow then if I have time. So if its something that corrected with spacers would that be an alright approach, or are those trouble? I'm all for saving money as opposed to buying new wheels, but I also don't want to have to fix things later by cutting corners.

The past day or two I've been looking at air intakes. I've come to the conclusion I want to keep the closed box as opposed to an open filter. But I would like to swap out the plastic tube for an aluminium one. I know LCE sells one, but $150 seems a little high. On ebay there is the little cheap kits. Could I buy the kit, toss the filter, and just use the tube connected to the stock airbox? I would imagine it would all connect the same, right? Or does anyone know where I could pick up another tube?

Or am I just overthinking all of this again?

Busy weekend. I actually had Friday off and ended up buying my wife a new car. Never bought a new vehicle before but we came home with a 2014 Ford Focus SE with 30 miles on it. Things pretty nice, and the gas mileage is awesome. I've always had trucks, so its a whole new world in that little thing.
Here's a picture of it:

Also my corner lights came in, but were grey instead of chrome so I tried that plasti dip stuff on them and my grille. Turned out pretty good, stuff is pretty neat. I was in a rush and just sat them in place on the truck and we left in the car. Of course the next day I completely forgot and took off and forgot they weren't screwed in. So I lost both between here and Madison, TN. That ladies and gentleman is my life. Back to no corner lights.

Finally got my ball joint spacers in, one sunday and one this morning. Those studs on the ball joints were a pain in the ass!
Definitely lifted it some though, and no more tire rub. Alignment at 11:00 on Wednesday, my tire look like this \-/

I'll get pictures up tomorrow in the light.

Here's a before and after picture with my cheap lift:

Bad angle on the picture, but it is just about perfectly level now.

Here's my horrible tire angles and the grille that I can't decide if I like black or not.

The spacers were just under 1 1/2", about 1 3/8" or so. I didn't even have to grind the drivers side, but it was required on the passengers. Pretty straight forward except for those damn studs that had to be knocked out.

For the rear I just did a zuk mod for now. I like how the truck looks, and I'm going on my first trip to actual trails in a few months, so I'm thinkin it'll do for now. If I enjoy it a lot and its something I plan to make a habit of I've looked at the old man emu leaves for down the road. For now cheap and modest.

I hear ya on the bumper. They only had one can at the hardware store. I'm waiting till more comes in before I start the bumpers incase I run out. Also probably do my stupid chrome mirrors, and may try it on the toolbox. I dont know, we'll see.

Next on list:
-Picking up a flex fan from a member on here as soon as paypal stops being nazis and releases my money. My stock fan looks like its been to hell and back.
-Gonna buy one of those cheap air intakes off ebay just for the tube to replace the stock one.
-ANOTHER set of corner lights, this will make 3.
-If I can't find a 3rd with 4.88s in it by the first of the year I'm gonna pay the mechanic to swap my ring and pinion into mine.

I'd keep the Toyota emblem of the grill chrome.. Having it on a black grill will make it POP! Also, check out MandrelBentSolutions for tubing/silicon adaptors. You should be able to rig something up to fix your intake problem. I did the same with my 3vze (though I know 22re is MUCH different..)

I was actually staring at it while I was smoking yesterday and thinking the same thing.
And I'll have to check those out and see if I can't piece something together, thanks
