3vze thermostats are easy. 3 bolts on the cover. I think its a 12 mm deep well will hit it perfectly. there actually is enough space behind the fan to make it work. Side mounted into the block, take the old one out, new one in. 20 minute job.......

So I wired in the new fan switch. I ended up also putting in a solenoid switch, and secondary fuse block powered by it. I powered the solenoid and fuse block from an internal cab switch until I know if the variable speed switch can handle the load. Here are the pics. I removed the non working clock and put it there. Here are the pics, think its all pretty self explanatory.

Now I have 3 speeds but that little son of a b gets hot HOT hot on anything but high. I'll have to rig up a switch to the AC clutch once winter leaves. No big deal.

I also threw in a thermostat. Was no big deal till I had to play hide and go seek for the last bolt that flew out of it in the rocks and sticks. Looks like some one JB welded the intake cover for the thermostat so I blue RTV'd it and am letting it set up real good before I run it to hope for no leaks. There was no thermostat in the truck.

So thats where I'm at. Ran out of day and the last thing I did was put the rear bumper mounts back on to get my head about building those, perhaps this weekend as long as the thermostat intake does not leak and time permits.

I like this build thread. It keeps me honest and I think it makes me produce a better end result as I have to kind of make things look nice if I'm going to put it on here.

I need to get my torch refilled. I may just weld the rear bumper mounts onto the frame and tie it into the hitch receiver for towing strength, vehicle recovery and rear impact implications. If I want it off, I'll just cut it off. LOL.

Think I'll weld some D rings onto the receiver hitch after I get the bumper all built and reinforced.

To make the AC compressor work again this is what I did...

The yellow and red wire that is in the switch block for the old main blower switch that is yellow and red is a ground which actuates a solenoid that will heat up the old AC switch which I intended to keep.

See the yellow and red wire all the way to the rt.

I stuck a blade into it and ran a wire to a switch then to ground...

And the AC works again while getting rid of the old POS factory blower motor switch which has burnt out on me 4 times now in 2 different rigs.

I forgot to mention that it will not keep the solenoid on if the key is off. I put the switch in as a back up and such.

I hate electronic stuff. It's a pain to deal with. Glad you're better than I am with wire.

Anyone have any suggestions how to mount a cut down ranch hand to replace the bumper on the front in place of the front bumper? I guess I need to weld some heavy steel to the frame and set it up to bolt on and off. Any thoughts?

Went to go to the store today and the clutch hit the floor and stayed there...So I took the big truck and picked up a master and slave cylinders clutch components and threw them in. Adjusted the throw so the clutch is higher now. (No pics. Pretty simple stuff)...

It had gave me problems shifting hard and its better now. Ordered a marlin crawler tower kit to replace the bushings in the tower...it is in route. Hope that solves all the crunchy shifting. Its not horrible but could be better. So we will see.

This will be the 3rd marlin crawler tower bushing kit I've put in a toyota. Most applications is the white and the "all other applications" for the shift lever socket. It was for my 1995 4 runner. Its like...33 bucks to the door with shipping. Here is a link to the page for the tower kits. It does magical stuff. I had a old custom cab and you could put in in 3rd and push the shifter all the way over into the place of 1st and 5th. That kit fixed it like new....Here is the link direct to the bushings.

Good looking rig! especially with the new paint job.

On the harbor freight bender, I took mine back after one use. If you want clean bends, you have to use the sand fill method, otherwise it just collapses the tube. check out my rollbar in my build thread to see the results.

When I build my tube bumpers I will be buying a jdsquared model 3 bender. just an fyi

Thanks Chukar...Upland bird guy hunh? Me too. Have a short haired pointer that is a machine. I'll check out your build page.

I found a muffler shop close to home that can do my bends for me for a affordable price, however I think I may just do a straight pipe stacked rear bumper, the front bumper is going to be a rear bumper ranch hand cut down to fit the width of the 4runner. It has the reciever hitch on in anyway. I'm in it 100$. My F-350 already has a hoss of a bumper so I dont need it for any other applications.

Haha, yep, you are the first to understand the username. I have a 10 year old Brittany that I have had since he was a pup. He doesn't point as strong as he should, but he is a bird finding hooligan after the shot. If you can't find a downed bird, just let him out and pop open a cold one, he will eventually be back with the bird. I love short hairs, they have great personalities. how was yours guys season this year? Sorry I don't mean to drag off topic.

I was told to "get off topic" as it makes the build up pages more interesting so...

We do the quail thing here. They are disappearing. We have a couple of places that we released Hundreds if not THOUSANDS of pen raised birds so its not the same... so it was an ok season but expensive. I've got the short hair and a black lab. My black lab is the "one dog"...you know that one dog you will compare every other dog in your life to? I use him to flush the point, he will retrieve anything anywhere anytime. My short hair retrieves too. I'm a wing man...duck, dove, pheasant, quail...its all my game. Have a buddy with a Brittney that is an absolute pus...uh chick magnet. We take her to this bar that allows dogs and just sit there with her...Its magic...I dig Brittney's. Heck. I like dogs more than I like most people.

Lol, especially these days, dogs don't lie, cheat, or are selfish. They just love. It sounds like you have great dogs, all excellent breeds. was curious about the bird season there cause all our chukar disappeared these last two years. I didn't even buy my license this past year because there wasn't much to shoot at. We are having a bad streak of droughts, hopefully that turns around and brings the birds back.

Many build threads are a lot like blogs. We get to know each other this way. It's started some really good friendships. I've met a couple guys from this site and will likely meet more for wheeling.

Chuk- We have some crazy eye worm that is making the quail go blind. (flight animal that cant see is not a good deal) It infects insects during the rain period and when they eat an infected insect it takes about 45 seconds to get to their sinus cavities. Which destroies their sight. There are other factors tho, loss of fence rows, over grazing, bermuda grass, fire ants...Its like the perfect storm of factors killing them. Which really sucks.

Red- yah I can see that. You put your personality in your rig and on your page and it conveys who you are and what your about. I really get that. What your into, what you do. 33's diggers or neon glow effects to big steel ranch hands to whatever. I guess too it shows that you can weld or turn a wrench. I only have a few friends that wont get their hands dirty...
