Clinton929's 89' Pickup Build

Hello everyone, relatively new to this, been asking a couple questions here and there. I find myself picking and poking at things on my truck alot, and wanted to start documenting it, and I guess there is no better way than a build thread!

Here she is, my 1989 Pickup, V6, automatic, ext cab. Day I got it!

It came with power locks (aftermarket obviously), and alarm, previous owner of truck had his old vehicle stolen and went all out on security of this one.

When I got it home, got another picture but in the light.

So, as you may be able to tell shes got some dings, and rust spots, some minor imperfections. She also has this quite the few Kilometers behind it.

Yup, but apparently the second engine only has 140,000 on it (So I'm told, no documents of proof)..

Unbending the bumper.

Took the little plastic fender things off to paint to them and help fit in with rest of black paint previous owner did on the side of box, AND RUST WAS FOUND (Not really a shocker).

After It was painted.

Oh, better!

Then I went to auto wrecker to grab a couple interior parts that was missing (Cup holder clip thing stopping cup holders from sliding out, a few interior screws, and the hood pop handle), while I was there I scored this box liner for 30 bucks!

Then sanded out as much rust off the bottom of the sides of my truck and front fenders without making holes, and painted to match the back.

Starting to look good I think... Obviously you can tell there is still rust under the paint, but if I got rid of it entirely there would be holes!

Bush cruise into the Koocanusa Mud Bogs got my truck a little dirty!

And yesterday I installed this because I wanted Bluetooth in my vehicle.

Has DVD player, backup camera (Not gunna install), SD slot, BT, Etc:

And that's my truck so far! I plan on doing bodywork and painting it sometime, I'm good at stuff like that. Because I'd like to eliminate all the rust period, and I want her to be all black! Ill keep this updated as much as possible, hope you guys enjoy this maybe? Haha

Yeah she's got quite a few, but its ok And thank you! She is nothing special at the moment but hopefully will be soon!

Question though, my 91' had 33's under it, that's how I bought it, what do I need to do to squeeze them under this truck? I don't recall my old truck having a lift...

After taking this picture below, I decided to repaint my skid plate thing up front, it stood out to me. So I did.

Before/After

Put back on the truck

Sorry for my crappy iPhone pictures, its all I can really do, don't want to bust out my DSLR and get it all dirty while I'm working on the truck.

Next is defiantly painting the black on the front bumper, that sticks out now!

Thanks.. I did't like the red when I got it, grew on me though, don't mind it anymore. Yes, I know its an automatic, my last truck was stick, much better blah, but got it for a good deal.

Looks great! What did you use and where did you mount the probe? I may do something similar in my rig.

I used a cheapo ebay one, think I paid $15 for it! Haha, mounted the probe in weather stripping on top of the door. Ill link the one I got, and show a picture of the probe location.
