So I actually didn't go to bed after last night's message. Instead I was productive! I installed the fuel rails and fuel injectors, though not without difficulty. In fact, I'm still not 100% sure they are in right but they are in enough, I hope. My problem stemmed from the injector cups having an old gasket or washer left in three of them. I am a bit disappointed in Fuel Injector Connection for not having this piece removed from three of the cups, as I sent them to be cleaned with the injectors. The injectors looked good, for the record, but I'm going to be giving them a call to find out why they didn't fully clean the cups as I asked. Makes me a bit worried for the actual injectors.

Anyway, pictures are here. I also got out the calipers to show what I feel to be the correct install height of the injectors if everything is right. I could be wrong about this so I'm not liable if you shoot for these numbers and they aren't right.

Also, I had a couple of vacuum lines with bad stuff in them. I found that the low E string from my guitar worked great at snaking through and cleaning them up. Feel free to use this information as you see fit.

In other news, the rally car now has a driver's window. No pictures here, as it is a Honda, but I am excited to have an absolute beater to tool around town in.

The big day.

BIG NEWS!!!!!

IT IS ALIVE!!!!

Here is a little video of it starting for the first time (well, second time, but who's counting?!)

http://s1364.photobucket.com/user/Ch...4d142.mp4.html

I apologize in advance for the crappy videography.

I have plenty more pictures to post but I'm just super stoked that the truck runs. Heck it doesn't just run, the A/C works, the power steering works, and I was able to back it up my driveway and take it around the block!

Now all is not perfect, mind you. The engine runs great and idles better than my Acura. However, in my haste to fix another rat-chewed wire on top of the transmission I accidentally broke the throttle position line that goes into the trans. I think I can fix it without too much effort. Also, since I was not paying enough attention I put a small amount of ATF+4 in both the torque converter and the transmission. This is a big NO NO. I plan to cross my fingers and flush the trans fluid a few times over the next two weeks and hopefully get all of it out. The A340H takes Dexron, not ATF+4.

Other tasks:
-New radiator and hoses. I thought I may have to do this, but after a couple of leaks after it got hot I'm now sure of it.
-Check the braking system. Feels light and spongey to me. It works, but just doesn't feel right. I've never driven one of these though so I'm not 100% sure.
-Figure out what on earth previous owners did to the headlight wiring in the dash. For some reason they have a separate toggle switch stuck in the dash that turns the lights on. And some other switch that doesn't do anything. All of that and the dash lights flicker and go on and off. SMH
-Install a radio and speakers.
-Put the interior back together.
-Get registration and insurance.
-Find something big to crawl over!

I think the shop assumed you would replace the cups. I love the attention to detail you put into your rebuild. I've never measured how far injectors were seated. On customers cars and my I vehicles I replace all "rubbers" . Install new, Coat with a lil bit o Vaseline then push and twist. Some European manufacturers say don't twist. Whatever I've been doing like that for 10 years.
Nice to see it running

Thanks guys!

Well, there are still a few bugs that I'm working out. #1 was a bad TPS which kept me from setting my timing. Symptoms included a hesitation when first applying throttle and the transmission (ECT) always shifting to the highest possible gear despite throttle position.

After a new TPS was installed, I find out that I've got the dreaded "Code 52" - knock sensor no-signal. I'm not terribly surprised by this, after some thought, since the wiring of this truck and particularly the shielded knock sensor wire was decimated by the previously mentioned rat. So tonight I got a 12' RG-58 coax cable, spliced it to the connector on the harness side of the KNK sensor and ran it directly to the pinout at the ECU. I may give this a writeup with pictures in the future if it works *FINGERS CROSSED*. I didn't actually try firing it up since it was 11:15pm by the time I'm finished but you better believe that I won't be staying late at work tomorrow!

Also, prior to installing the new TPS the engine ran great at idle. Now it runs crappy at idle and I'm trying to figure out why. I hope it is just because the timing is 10deg retarded due to the knock sensor. Before I replaced the TPS I checked the timing and it read 20* BTDC at idle, but it ran much better. Who knows though, I may have vacuum issues to figure out as well. I really need better hoses between both valve covers and the intake as I believe both are overly restricted by kinks.

Will update soon.
