Hey Mark, loud winch eh.
First time I cranked my XRC8 I thought it was broken. :p
I've only used heavy lift ones at the mines and they are more quiet.
I can say this about that winch, it works a treat! I've pulled a few heavies out of snow banks this year with it. One was a big utility delivery van loaded up. Those big long ones. Popped him right out. Dudes drove by giving me the thumbs up for being a good samaritan. One lady did try to drive over my winch line though after I hooked up to buddy. Thankfully calm hand gestures getting her to wait where understood.

To answer the question on the e.t.a of ruby red Red Rum being in the driveway again.....
It looks as if it will be after the 4th of July holiday. The front is completed and Eric was very pleased how it came out. The rear was taking more time because he ended up doing three passes at the front hanger location for the rear springs... He's a bit of a perfectionist. This makes me very happy! The problem with getting it back before the end of the week comes in with the need 2 R&R my trans and along with that adding the dual cases and the fitment of the 4.7 gears into the rear housing, which for those that aren't aware, has to be ground to fit said 4.7 gears. This would push him to an extremely rushed pace in order to get it done by Friday, and that is something that I really don't want him to have to do. According to Eric it is unlikely but probably 10 percent possible that I would get it back by Friday.
The other issue would be the frame reinforcement plate for the addicted off road bumper that I purchased... In order to attach it the entire original bumper assembly has to be removed... Seeing that it has to be welded on before I can attach the bumper, I'm just going to have him weld on the plate and attach the bumper, and then I will wire in the turn signals in the parking lot... Then drive it home!
I'm in no rush and it will be well worth the wait! Thanks for checking in guys and in a way I'm just as sad as you that I can't tell you that I'm bringing it home tomorrow... But its all for the best! Woohoo!

Oh dang Mark. So there is a possibility that you're gonna get it back by this Friday hmm...? Dang dude that'll be really nice. Btw if that's the case let me know. We are having a last minute big bear trip this sunday. A different trail. And this time ita not only gonna be Me, Chris and Ruben. This time there will be about 4 other rigs coming along too some including a Heep and a SAS'd izusu trooper/or rodeo 'I dont remember' not sure if Rubens son in law is gonna come, but if he does then he has a Suzuki Samari. And since you'll be locked on the front and rear I know your truck will definitely be able to hang in there with the group for sure. It'll be a 1 day'er set for this sunday.
Crossing my fingers for you dude. Btw I gotta drop by your house sometime soon. I need to pick up that Power window Master switch already.

The photo's of some of the scenery is breathtaking.
I'll take the missus to Disneyland while I'm there as well. Who doesn't love Mickey Mouse?
The move to British Columbia is getting really close.
How far is Vegas driving from LA? There is good wheeling out that way to right? Any of you guys ever venture that far from home?

No buddy,.... not yet. It's definitely and Eric's best interest to get out as fast as possible.... I just added so much more to the mix that I basically shot myself in the foot as far as that goes. But then again, I didn't really have some specific deadline and I don't honestly care as much about missing a trip then I do making sure that everything's done right and with everything that I want , once and for all.( that's a laugh, isn't it?!?! Hahahahaha.... But you know what I mean)Originally Posted by JonnyBoy

I don't think it's a lot louder than most, but definitely more than some. Fairly fast man! Kinda shocked me compared to my old warn. I know that it really fast is not always better, if they've gotten a little better at this point... Also the fact that synthetic rope is 7 times lighter than standard. Definitely easier to set up with less lacerations! Lol.Originally Posted by Red Wagon

Appreciated,....but just not likely.... And most likely? ; Yeah, even if it was ready I might pass... I am NOT about to cut any corners on proper break in on a single thing. I still have around 200 miles to go before breaking in of the rear gears.... And while that is not an exact science as with many other things... I'm not taking any chances with putting it under such a load before it's even fully broken in. Same with the front. I'm likely going to head up to the Sierras for the first trip and run along the fire roads for a good couple hours, on and off a gas, breaking in the drive and Coast side of the front gears. Same with the new 4.7 gears in the rare case... If I don't have time to get all the way up there & make a little side camping trip out of it, then I will likely just go to where we had that water and mud fun... That area is very large and only very aggressive at some parts so I could putput around for half a day, letting them cool to the touch, in between sessions of breakin, while having lunch or something... But I'm definitely not going to be rock crawling for the first break in of the front and final break in of the rear gears. I really wish I could go with you guys man... But its just not in the cards at the moment. Soon enough ... Originally Posted by Redeth005

I KNOW! LOL. ... I might head there today... I have to drop off something and I figured I could check it out and take some pictures. Front end is fully done. The rear I believe is as well... Its just that the trans and drive shaft work will probably push it a day further... Even if everything went perfectly something always happens that can hold you up... As far as me personally, I would have had no opportunity in the last few days to do this at all. I have spent around 12 - 14 hours in last four days(more in previous weeks) with my sister, who is just about to have a sinus surgery. She's been suffering for quite a long time and there's no one else to take her , so it's my honor to help her out. My only other option would have been taking it(trans/tcase) BACK to AA Gears & Shafts..... But then I'm driving back and forth, 3 times MORE, to deep downtown Los Angeles and then from there all the way to Corona in horrible traffic... ? Its a timing thing, nothing more than that. So why get upset right? I should have had a lot sooner anyway from other angles... But things don't always work out the way you want. LolOriginally Posted by bbrideau

I look forward to meeting you as well man! Plenty of Wheeling out in Nevada, and thousands and thousands of wheelers living in Henderson and surrounding areas. Not much else to do outside of Vegas beside water sports. Vegas is around 4-5 hours drive, sometimes more, depending on where you are going in LA County. Richard is around 10 miles from me yet the drive is probably 30 minutes..... As long as you plan it right and don't try to drive back to LA after a holiday weekend in Vegas you will be just fine .Originally Posted by Red Wagon

Hey Mark, how much did you say you bought your winch for?
Found that same winch for $300 on CL. just wondering if that is a good deal or not. although im sure i will buy the CBI front bumper first but i still wanted to know anyway.

Hey guys........,
Well, as I already knew, they wern't going to finish my rig before they left for holiday.... But, I'm glad I stopped by to drop off the triple shifter and Bumper........
Jay King, a fab/4wd guru is going to take everything home over the holiday and finish the dual case/trans assembly with 3xsticks and have it ready to go the day they get back to the shop...... so looks like I have a week to more or less relax! Haha
.....
How shes standing.......

Frame reinforcement plate. ...

Setting the pefect 10* angle for me, then finishing the shock hoops....

************************************
I'm not a fan of black wheels on certain primary color/secondary brigght ones, with certain patterns & set ups... But I have to admit it looks pretty decent.. I wish I could go back and forth on the 35's on each wheel. But even if I stayed with the Baja style, I would make them hammered black...... I think it would look good.
