Yeah, well, ...it's CA.... so complaints and lawsuits are 490,000,000 PER SECOND, lol... and, well, I can't KNOW that they wont listen to me, ya know? I think that foreman respects me enough to know that I WOULD NEVER bad mouth anyone without JUST cause. I even told him, many times, "yeah, ....I'm finding this and that" along the way, but never Named him, .....not at the time, because I know how 'THINGS HAPPEN' and how hard it is to stay above water in biz, especially in CA, with mandates through the roof, malpractice in other fields, lawsuits for Trees against Humans when my dog pees there... etc., hahaha. NOW< he knows! It probably wouldn't have come up, but the head of parts there, my pretty good bud, told me, "I TOLD THEM, ....but I've not heard back".. .that's when I went to the head of Service for that dealer. If they DO have tons of 'big work' complaints due to his machining....well, can't say they weren't warned.... I think if I started reading commentary on that, then I would definitely go above that guy, to the next guy up in Toyota.... not for them, BUT FOR PEOPLE LIKE ME! lol.

Anyway, thanks for the encouragement, NV,....very much appreciated.

They're pretty sure they can get it perfect with no more than 10-over! They're going to try to polish it up, but I'm pretty sure it needs a lil grind cuz they had spun the 2 center rod bearings."

That's the update, for now.... I'm off to get the gasket and then run back and finish lunch, then slap it in and start on whatever else I can!
I TOLD YOU!!!!!!!!! sorry. 30 and 20 is junk. for any crank.

Not to sound mean westjohns but you need to go farther back through this build. Hes rebuilding the motor again (4500 miles on motor) the guy that done it the 1st time cut corners on the meachine work and caused a ton of headaches for chef. He also has alreday done some preformance mods.

Hey chef sorry if that was considered highjacking seems like your on the rite track and sorry if i missed it but did you decide to have the head redone or go with a preformance from putneys/engbuilder?

Nahhhhhhhh, that was just 'look'n out', homie...s'all good! Hope you're having fun with yer rig! ....

Well, my fingertip is fat as a "Whopper" and about as dark, hahaha. Doubting it's broken, but it could be on the tip or something. Honestly, ...think my nail saved me from a nasty break, if one at all.

I can't type more than this for now......even w/out usin the finger it's kill'n me! THRRRRRRRRRRRROBBIN, eeek, lol. I'll just leave it at... "was bout to drop the front third out completely.... loosening a crossmember bolt... POW! Again, I'll explain later... just a freak thing, nothing really 'stupid' or nothing. lol.

Couple pics for the day.................

Mark....hey look...something I can help you with.

It is "likely" you broke the finger tip. what does that amount to? a good reason for pain. you don't cast a finger tip, but rather, would have a splint ("cage, brace" whatever) that is a padded aluminum thingy that acts more as a bumper and protector than anything else. there is such a thing as a sub-ungual-hematoma....IE:the bruise and blood trapped under the fingernail after a blunt injury like that. that may account for most of your pain.....a good ER doc worth their weight will "relieve" the pressure for you (takes about 1 second with a cautery tool) making about a 1/8'' hole to allow the trapped blood to ooze out.......otherwise you are gonna be in agony until your body dissolves the hematoma (coagulated blood / bruise / jellied blood)...in a few days.

my advice.....get an XRAY...at least if it's broken (tuft-fracture, distal phalynx....hehehehe, I ARE SCHMART)...you have an objective finding for your subjective pain......but secondly, the can do that cautery trick to relieve the pressure....3rd-ly.....you can get a splint / guard .

so do as I say please......and ice the hell out of it....and elevate.

Hey Mang! ......

Thanks, so much for the input, guys!!!! Jerry.... you ROCK, and you areeeeeee shmart!(for some reason that reminds me of Goldmember, hahaha,,,,"an unfortunate schhhhhhmelting accident", lol).......

AnywHoooooooooooooo.....ters, lol..... ,YEAH,.... I woke up and it's pretty swollen and strangely, not AS black and blue as last night....... Seems like more of the swelling is on the underside of my finger now. I'm able to manipulate it a bit.... but pushing in the center on the nail side?>>> WAHOOOIE! lol. I can bend it as well, so I think the knuckle is safe, but yes, Jerry.... I think it's a hairline or something of that sort. If I can't handle the pain any longer, or if it gets ANY worse(it's not constant any longer, ....more of a throbbing at times, especially when wrapped with ice-gel pack, lol.... or held low while walking.. Yeah, ..the blood rushing to an already over stuffed with blood finger, ....ouchie, hahaha.) ..if I can't take it, I'll get in asap.... just no time, man!(Especially considering it looks like I'll have to redo my daughters entire brake system on her 2001 Rodeo...... really pffft'd... The guy who did it, he never bled the brakes properly after new Master,....now the master is leaking, and, ... she just kept driving it with no brake fluid and burned up NEW ROTORS, DRUMS, THE LOT!... She knows better... Good thing I love her so much! hahaha.)

I've had this happen with a toe, couple times... One time it WAS a break, and it took around 3 weeks to stop hurting, but nothing much they could do. The other time?... a bad bruising of the bone through the nail... which took about 4 days to be MUCH more useable and clearly not broken(second time, was camping in the middle of nowhere for 2 months..... yeah, thought my trip was over, hahahaha).

I have limited time over the weekend, so I will do what I can(circumstances allowing) to finish up the diff swap. 2 more crossmember bolts and the diff can drop out, .....grrr! lol.

Then, I have the torch blades to cut back the lip in the a-arm to install the bj spacers.... will also install the upper and lower ball joints while in there, and probably have the lower arm out to have the new bushings put in(old ones pushed out).

I think the bell housing came out nice, thanx... and I have a boot, new, from Marlin crawler to put back in........ Just gonna have to see what I can get done with a boo boo! lol.

I'm gonna TRYYYYYY to finish that other stuff..... but now I'm slowed down, lol.... and I was slowed down by having to wrk in 'spare time status' increments as it was, lol. Still, it's very satisfying to have this all done by myself, rather than being taken by anyone I don't REALLY need to do something. I know,....many are honest, and I've actually found one. Just, .... you know what I mean, lol.

THANX, NV! I will take care of it. Hope to get time to get in today and have an x-ray done. Do a "drill bit mark" on the sucker, whatever, lol. sux working with HAND PROBLEMS....they are my LIVING!!! lol.

Thanx Yeah, it sux, but I can't stop,.......which sux even more, ...due to time constraints. lol. Oh well, a lil throbbing never hurt anyone,...wait, that makes no sense, .. ok, so it hurts, but it SHOULDN'T STOP anyone! lol.

I have a few questions, and I'll start with the diff stuff... Pulled the front third.......

But first, ... BFH + this..........

Equals this.........

My whole hand swelled up, but they gave me an anti-inflammatory and drilled a hole in my fingernail(everyone should try that, btw,... FANTASTIC feeling! lol)... and a special splint you can find at any store was my directions. So, that's that. I forgot to get one of the nail, ....batteries died... anywhooooooooo.....Here's what I did, today.........

Quite the PITA, .... for the first time, I guess, lol. But not bad for a couple hours, eh? OH,.....and ONE USEFUL HAND! lol.

My first question is this.....

1. I have a set of 4.30's.... rears in already... Front is out, as you can see, ....and Rob had to keep the tube, .... plus, the fixed bolts are not in the short side... so I'm thinking it would be best to just pull the other axle out of the front diff that I got from Rob(w/out the bolts) and stuff my axles, both(they've not seen much off road, at all, compared to Robs, I'm sure) into the 4.30 housing. MY QUESTION IS,..... "HOW DO I GET THESE AXLES OUT???" I've tried per instructions with a HD Screwdriver between the pin and axle and push it out... but it's not seeming to work. I saw a c-pin is on there in the pics on "HOW TO DIY"... but it didn't mention taking the c-pin out first, ....and to be honest, I don't see how I could. "Do I have to remove the Bearing CAPS to get these axles out?" I just don't wanna damage anything. I have to use my tube/axle from my 4.10's, so why not use both, especially since my short side has the studs/fixed bolts still in there, right????????

PSSSSSSS!!!!! >>>>> The front cover is off, on mine, .... just didn't get apic b4 batteries died. OBVIOUSLY, otherwise how could I get the screwdriver in there btween the pin and axle head, right? lol... ... sorry, it's been a bit of a rough and painful day, forgive the brain farting! lol.

Oh, no, it's broken..... Basically split my distal phalanges down the middle.., like a hairline but worse, lengthwise,.....but not quite to the distal-interphalangeal,.... Like a banana peal not quite split all the way...bout 3/4, actually, hahaha. SAVED, as I thought, by the nail, ....at least they thought. lol... They were surprised how little swelling I had, considering...and they were amazed how well I took the pain, hahaha. If you've seen my wreck pics, heard all the stories... well, I'm used to it, HAHAHA. But don't worry... I DON'T LIKE IT, and I'm always careful as possible, lol. 37 Broken bones later, including Several Compounds, Every rib but one, skull, collar, fib and tib, both ankles...... the list is endless, hahaha..... still, .....SUX! LOL. Thanks, so much, Jerry, for lending a thought and urging me to be sure. I probably shouldn't be working on my truck just yet,....but I promise, I'm being careful lol.

Thanks, Brother! Make sure you let me know if someone YOU know says, "Oh, yeah, that's done like...............................".... hahaha. I probably just need to press harder, ...but not sure how much harder I can press w/out snapping the thing off in there! lol. Again, thanks, man!
