Buck87 build-up

I have decided to finally start a build-up thread. Here is how she looked when I bought her for $2200.00.

This is how she looked after I lowered the body lift from 3" to 1", added a truck leaf in the rear, installed new rims and 31"x12.5x15" Pro Comp Mud Terrains and Marlin 68" sliders shortened to 65.5"

Here she is with manual hubs, 6" shackles in the rear, 4.88 lockers, Procomp rims and Nitto 285/75r16 tires. So far I like the wheel size because it is taller than the 31" tires but narrower and no longer rubs while turning.

First thing that I did was convert the 3" body lift into a 1" body lift.

You're off to a good start getting rid of some of that body lift. What are your plans for it? The body looks amazing for only $2200. Were there any mechanical issues you had to work out? If not, you got an great deal!

This thread is about 2 years behind real life. I plan to catch up everything in order of what Ive done as I get the pictures on line.
What I have done so far off of the top of my head:
1" Body lift
Add a leaf from a pick up
Neoprene bushings
Factory skid plate
IFS brace
Replaced stereo
High performance long block
Electric fan and electronic fan controller
Factory horn
Factory windshield washer
Factory multi switch
Fixed or replaced the window switches except the rear key switch
New 31" tires and rims
Gel battery
Marlin sliders
Smitty Built rear bumper
R314 conversion
New 2.25" cat and exhaust

Planned upgrades are:
Front 4.88 Aussie locker in my garage
Rear 4.88 ARB locker ordered and paid for from Marlin(waiting)
On board air installation in progress
Manual hubs in garage
Front push bumper in progress
Heavy duty steering dampener in garage

I probably have $5000.00 to $6000.00 in to it and can probably get $4000.00 for it and I consider that a good deal because there is no rust, I am not planning on selling it and I know it has not been wheeled too hard. She is my daily driver.

Pictures to come.

I hope my neighbors do not think that my front yard looks hill-billyish.

In with the new:
An Orgon Enginbuilders 22re Superstock. "The following is a list of the performance options installed in this "SUPER-STOCK" long block engine: New hypereutectic pistons and wrist-pins, over-sized IN&EX swirl-polished, chrome tipped valves, torque RV Crane cam shaft with 425/IN and 440/EX lift, high volume oil pump and a rubber lined steel chain guide for the slack side. On top of all that, a NEW, (not remanufactured) heavy casting head, new timing cover and a full set of high quality gaskets!"

Bought a skid plate from Craigs List and made a friend on Yotatech. He sold me ths skid plate at a very reasonable price. When he saw my rig he also gave me the two leaf springs that I installed. We have gone wheeling at the local park since. Robert a great guy!

A Smitty Built Bumper. I like that it is pretty light weight. Provides some good rock protection, but hangs kinda low.

More dependable. I blew the head gasket and decided to rebuild rather than repair.

Looking good Buck, what future plans do you, for the runner? What goals do you have as a finished rig?

Thanks Dark Fairytales.
It is getting close to the basics that I have planned. At the end of the month I plan to leave on a 3-4 week road trip through Nevada, Arizona, Utah, So Cal, ...Texas? New Mexico?

Planned future upgrades are:
Front push bumper in progress
Heavy duty steering dampener in garage
Rerout my tailpipe so I can carry a 33" spare tire
Various lighting upgrades inside and outside
Split transfer case
F150 rear springs
apolstery restoration (front seats and dash)

Here she is with manual hubs, 6" shackles in the rear, 4.88 ARB air locker in the rear, 4.88 Aussie locker in the front, Procomp rims and Nitto 285/75r16 tires. So far I like the wheel size because it is taller than the 31" tires but narrower and no longer rubs while turning. Not sure that I like the murdered out look of the flat black rims. How do you think they would look painted white (see the photo in the first post)?

Looks great! I think I have the same rims you do

I miss my OEM skid plate - Big O stole it when they installed my 4" bracket lift 8 years ago (I know it won't fit anymore, but still....would be nice to have something to catch the leaks when I park

I think the white rims clash with the grey bodywork. What about matching the the rims to the paint on the body?

Thanks for the feed back. You are right.

Good idea except that it would be a lot of work to paint them, then scratch them, then oxidize them. LOL How about Hammertone Grey on the sliders and the rims?

I think any color grey would work.
