cant wait till spring to start on the rebuild, will be much nicer then before. going to bring the drive line up an do a flat belly with tunnel inside, build an internal roll cage, sound proofing the new cab, painting it properly not with spray paint, and a couple other small things

How did you come up with the idea of the trailer tent? Thats a pretty snug fit.

well..... i love camping and hate setting up tents/taking them down. plus a nice one can be expensive. i got all the canvas's for free from a pop up camper that my dad was stripping to make a work trailer. then it just hit me. build a tent around the bars. it came out good and you would not believe the looks i get driving around. it got a couple rips this wheeling season that will be fixed once the truck is up and going again

Yes, I'm the same way. I ended up doing the RTT. Pretty expensive and if you wheel with it in New England your constantly dodging branches.
I really like the simple design.
How did you make the tent fit? Did you cut and sew it to make it form around the bars?

Understood, they are coming down quite a bit though, but I like your idea much more.
How much work do you have ahead of you? Think you'll be good by spring?

i have a bit of work ahead of me. i cant start until i know there is not going to be any snow as i have to work outside and am not going to start then get a foot of snow over everything. so as early as i can this is my plan, pull cab, pull motor tranny and t case, pull all ifs parts. straightin frame and get a decent parts truck. paint my frame pull all ifs stuff from parts truck and put on mine. motor back in up higher for flat belly. and all the things i mentioned for the new cab. then after paint put new cab on, then rebuild the latter rack. thats my master plan, hoping to be driving again by july.

What about a SAS for the front? Isn't that the weak spot on these trucks?
