That makes me want to start looking for another first gen. I am glad to see a family enjoying good times in a sweet runner.

NO not yet but soon for sure

Life has been crazy busy...might be 2 weekends from now before I get them in. Dont quote me on that. How about you, get the 4.56's in? If so, how long did it take you for front and back?

I've had my 4.56's since March and still haven't gotten them in yet! Curious to see how your installation goes...please take as many pictures as you can if you get the chance. Not gonna lie, I'm a little nervous about doing mine myself. Truck is off getting body work done right now, gears should come after that!

Welp, the wife was out of town, I was playing Daddy Daycare and some neighbors wanted to head off road! Needless to say, I finally got this pig on a trail here last weekend. We ran a very scenic trail called Kingston Peak here in Colorado outside of Nederland. We ran it from Nederland to Alice. A stocker run but good chance to go up and run the 4runner up some obstacles with lots of help around if needed. No one was really snapping pics and my wife was out of town with the camera so I used my phone to snap some. The 4runner did great overall, it was point and shoot. A few of the stocker rigs were struggling up a few parts but I think mostly due to them gun dogging the gas. I just crawled all day and didn't have one item really be challenging. Granted its a pretty easy trail. It does seem like I bottomed out a front shock or have fluid draining out of a CV that I need to check into tomorrow. Nothing on the ground, just some sauce on the IFS arm I want to check out. Here are a few camera phone pics:

I hope to be scouting a hunting area this weekend so i will try and get some more trail time with the rig if it works out.

Cheers!

That's a nice looking rig. I am looking to get an Addicted Offroad bumper. How did you mount the front turn signals.

The wife was out of town today so a buddy of mine stopped up and we swapped out the front 4.10 diff with the 4.88 diff. Pretty straight forward job using the post here http://www.gearinstalls.com/ifs.htm - I took a few pics but the pics in this write up are great.

While I had the front diff out, I changed the oil pan gasket as there was a minor leak starting from when I had to do the timing cover. Makes it a little difficult to give a time estimate on how long it took to swap the front diff but I'd say an hour to take it out and 40 minutes to get it back in.

I will have to get the rear differential swapped before hunting season at the end of October. Woohoo!

Its taken me 2 1/2 years to get this far, but im very happy with how its all coming together. If you want to mount your front turn signals the way i did, its simple to do and it looks better than zip ties. What i did was get some 3/4'' flat stock and bend one end into an L shape, measure how far out i wanted the turn signal lights and cut it off. I drilled a hole in the front side of the of the area were the core support mount is, and i also drilled the other end of the bracket and the light housing and bolted it all together.
