The local dealer has been impressing me lately too! I gotta remember to try them more for the smaller stuff.

Going to be..."waking the demon" today. (That's an awesome BFMV song! ) Finally throwing on the plates and purchasing a parking sticker. Installing plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Taking it to wrk to do an EFI Service. If I have time I'm re-installing the old amplifier so I can have some tunes and if everything goes smooth and I still have time I'll give her a wash!

IT'S TIME!!!!!

It went great. Got everything done except for installing the amp. Truck feels great! Dang that stupid parking sticker was expensive. The pickup is going to the body shop for a few days so needed to get the truck legally park-able. Truck needs a coat of wax asap.

With my new plates and stickers on a lot of people have been telling me to watch out for a ticket about me not having a rear bumper. Witch is something I've been wanting for the past 2-3 years. So finally I ordered my bumper and It arrived yesterday!! I won't be able to pick it up till Sunday and then still I have to get it powder coated but man I'm excited to get a rear bumper on finally! I'm going to be getting the front bumper sand blasted and powder coated along with the rear. I'm thinking a wrinkle black. I'm going to replace the bolts for both bumpers as well. While the bumper is off I'm also going to repaint the grill. I'll have to snap some shots of the bumper once I get it.

Nice one buddy. It's nice for city driving too. No one wants to run into you.

When I came home to Vancouver I never in my life had an easier time merging.

Dang I still haven't snapped any pics of the bumper....been having phone issues. Still no powder coater either....but I did however recharge the ac system. Blows ice cold now I also adjusted the clutch on the compressor using the small adjustment screw behind the glove box...if your ac gets warm at red lights you might try adjusting it with that screw.

Hmm, not that I think that's the problem with my ac, but got a pic of that screw to adjust the ac clutch? May be good info someday.

Thanks for asking guys. The bumper is sitting in my closet still waiting on me to coat it and install it. Yeah pretty upset with myself on this one but come end of snow that will be priority no. 1.

Just read through your entire build thread! Nice rig. I plan on going in about the same direction with my build.
One question, where did you get the TRD dash mount? I googled but could not find one.
Keep up the good work.

Thanks for checking out the build jday. The dash mount was an "i-bolt" mount for samsung phone. The TRD logo came off of an old shift knob, I just stuck it there.lol I have since upgraded to a new "I-bolt dash mount.

So the bumper is getting closer and closer. Due to the ridiculous prices for powder coating out here I have decided to go with a DIY rust proof coating. I chose a product called POR-15. I have the degreaser, the etcher, the rust proof coating, the primer, and finally the top coat. It prob. will not turn out as pretty as powder coating but I have read that the POR 15 finished surface is extremely durable and long lasting as long as you cover it with uv protection which is what the top coat is for.

Has anyone used this product before? Would love to hear of your experience with the stuff if you have. I plan on doing this all some time soon. I already have all the materials needed just need the time, space and good weather. According to the POR 15 label it is best applied it humid conditions so I'm waiting for this springs first rain. Also I have not driven the truck all winter to avoid salt so waiting on some rain to wash the residual salt away before I start driving it again. Call me paranoid but I hate salt.....

In other news I noticed a puddle of gear oil under the truck yesterday

I looked really quick and saw the trans wet all around the clutch fork boot and thought maybe the front seal on the trans is leaking.....but then it kinda looked like it was coming the the output on the front diff. and spinning off and onto the trans. I will look further into the leak when I start driving the truck again. That way I can just throw it on the lift.

Hope to be posting more often.

Bumper STILL not installed. Not having your own work space is a real bummer. But regret my move I do NOT. I have faith that everything will work out in the end....just one baby step at a time.

MEANWHILE

I washed the truck the other day and realized my paint was feeling pretty rough. I decided to clay bar the darn thing finally. Did a good pressure wash first followed by a vigorous clay bar episode. If you have never done clay bar look into it because it makes your paint feel quite smooth. Basically you are using a clay bar lube to allow the clay to glide over the paint easily while not getting dry and as you rub the clay on the paint the bar glides and picks up all the debris that normal washing leaves behind.(such as road tar, oils, and overspray) I would recommend this before doing any type of polishing or waxing for best results. After the clay bar I did a polish and wax. I did not spend too much time because I was doing this in the shop detail area and did not want to take the space up for too long. Again I would have been able to take my time if I had my own work space/garage. I also skipped the compound because not only the time concern but also I'm not too sure how my thin 20 year old clear coat would take to the abrasive compound with the industrial buffer I was using. Here are the results.

There is rust that needs to be addressed sometime soon before it gets worse...

1 more long year to go before I get a work place of my own and this thing gets to sit in a garage and get worked on all year round!
