Ohh blazeland kit only took me maybe 5 hours? Had my buddy helping me with handing tools n such. I use air/impact tools a lot also.

 

Wow, five hours! Really shows what a spare set of hand can accomplish. I am solo with my mods, and I am still very old school when it comes to tools; I do not use impacts of any kind.

How noticeably improved is the ride with the coil-overs, compared to the T-bars (1-10)? Just in-case I go back to long travel, I my do coil-overs. I never got the chance to use my Blazeland land kit after the install.

The driveability on the road is amazing. I would give on road a 6-7 as is without sway bars. Huge upgrade from the stock torsion bar setup. I have notice a huge difference in sway and turning.
Off road is so cush nothing I have ridden in locally has compared. I would give this a 8-9 because of course nothing is perfect. this setup is nice because I love to blast down crappy roads

Well I won this gift certificate at the "Cruising the Woods" event up in tillamook state forest. So I decided to get some OME 2900 rear coils. Should be getting them here in a week or so. Then its on to cutting fenders and tucking my q78's.

 

Maybe I missed it, but what rear suspension setup are you running? Which coils and shocks? Stock links/arms? No pan hard drop bracket?

 

It's stock with some crappy aftermarket shocks I found in a junkyard.

New OME coils and bilstein 7100's in the near future.

 

I'm interested in your gas tank relocation. What all did you have to do? Was it motivated by wanting to make some longer links for the rear suspension?

 

Well you have to cut out the rear crossmember in the frame and grind it all down smooth. Then you have to cut approx a 1/4 inch or more off each side of the gass tank. Use some kind of angle iron and weld it to the frame. (Pretty sure I used 1inch angle) Then drill new mounting holes and bolt it up. Its all about checking all your clearances to get it right. Then you extend all your gas lines and electric wires...

Don't forget to replace the cross member with some sort of square tube or round tube to get that support strength back.

You are correct I did relocate to re do my suspension in the future... But mainly to gain that extra clearance underneath. The gas tank was the only thing that seemed to get hung up on the trails so I decided to move it.

I've been thinking about rear links quite a bit lately, mostly that I'm going to have to build some custom pieces. Keeping the brackets in the same place and making new stock length arms with DOM and Jonny joints to allow more movement. Looking at your rear suspension flexing in those pictures it looks like your rig does better than mine for some reason. I'm guessing my shocks are too short?Are your stock mounts holding up OK? I've heard they can get ripped off, but I've never seen it.

 

Yea the shocks I have on there were a little longer. So far I haven't noticed any damage to the mounts at all.

I think when I decide to do mine I am going to eliminate the stock arm mounts and go with a lower profile mount that is more heavy duty as well.
