Ya, 90 or 91, both same color as mine. I can't remember exactly where on 15 they were though. I'm pretty sure it was before Liverpool.

The bulk of the encapsulator was brushed on, then followed up with an aerosol. I used an aerosol of chassis black for the first top coat, but will follow up with a brush coat. 1 qt. of encapsulator will do the whole frame, and then some. An aerosol comes in handy though afterwards to get where youu can't with a brush.

Go and pick up some fluid film and coat your entire frame and suspension components with it. It'll protect the metal and the frame will bead water nicely.

I forgot to post a pic of the control arm blasted, compared to the original. So, here it is:

FYI: The 3.4 pilot bearing thing is False. All 3.4's have a pilot bearing hole.

Thanks, I didn't think that was true. I did an automatic to manual swap on a different car, I figured at that point that every crank was made to accept a pilot bearing.

The front suspension teardown is finally complete. More pics of rusty stuff, soon to be clean stuff. Soon I will be at the point of putting on a 4" lift or not. I'm leaning towards the lift. What better time than with everything out of the way.

I now wait for my donor truck for a 3.4 swap. I've got new rotors, pads, tie rod ends and ball joints. Two new wheel bearing sets and a lift kit are on their way.

During my wait, I managed to get the rest of the right side cleaned up and rebuilt, as well as the rear of the torsion bars.

And here's a pic of the donor for the 3.4

As soon as it arrives, I'll make the attempt to start it up and see what happens.

A lot more to come soon...

Wow...you're going all out. I thought rebuilding and painting a motor was a lot of work!

Actually, this is what I'd eventually like to do to my '86. Tear it down to the frame and restore it....body, interior, and all. Of course, I also have some customization in mind. Hmmm.....one day.

Nice progress, Cyberman.

You can buy it online or at your local John Deere dealership. I'm going to coat my yota and my isuzu this summer with it.

Got a lot accomplished this weekend. Got the entire front suspension back in (minus the torsion bars). New lift, wheel bearings, ball joints and rotors. Just needs a few bolts torqued. Part of the steering is back on too, still have to put on the tie rod ends.

It's been a while since I've posted my progress, and I've made quite a bit. I have the chassis and suspension completed. Now it's time to start putting the rest of it back together. The rear got all new brake hardware, and the lift was added as well.

I also picked up a set of wheels for $100, and a set of 33x12.5x15 Mud King tires (thanks Craig's List). I know I'll hate the tires once they wear down, but they'll get the truck rolling. The wheels had pretty bad surface rust, but they polished up pretty well.

Finally, I gave up on the 3.4 swap, the junk yard didn't deliver for almost 3 weeks. I trolled through Craig's List again and found a 3.0. This engine was a dealer pull, apparently for a cooling problem (with only 30k mi.!). I haven't found anything wrong with it yet. Not a bad find for $150.

I've got a new gasket set, timing set and water pump, that'll be here tomorrow.

Ooooo...the pics! The motor does look good. And, everything else is looking dynamite. Best of luck with it, Cyber. I'll keep watching the progress.

BTW, thanks for giving me the body removal rundown. I don't have a highlift, but maybe 4 bottle jacks at key lift points will work. Hmmm.....
