OK....so the alternator PASSED at Auto-Zone.....sooooo......now I'm gonna go with that it's the rusty stud and rusty nut and blah blah blah.........so I'm going to shine that up nice and the wire harness thingy and I bought dielectric grease ($8.99...what a rip) too to make good clean connections.

hate
you
both
!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyways......alternator back in, all connection parts shiny clean. fired right up....no charge light. took it for about a 3 mile trip (hood on FTW) and it ran well.
Joe had tightened down some of the exhaust connections (I did too)......only 1 that still leaks is the lateral one. gonna try some muffler tape 1st....then maybe some JB weld or something of the sort.
anyway....runs strong, ildes nicely......going to have to put more gas in.
next project is to see if the e-brake cable i got off ebay a LONG while ago, is actually the right one.

Sound like you just have some small loose ends to wrap up, but overall your rebuild went great and the kids are involved. Got a good thing going on there. Great job guys.

Thanks man.....couldn't have done it without you too.
OK.....Joe and Jeff worked VERY hard today while the wife and I were working today. they fabbed up enough of a fender to get the fender trim back on....still looks like hell, but the trim is firmly on place.
as a bonus......forgot that the previous owner had limo tint on the front windows....driver's side I already cleaned off a while back, passenger's side was mostly off but the glue was still there. several applications of goo-gone and a razor blade and the window is squeaky clean.

Mine was pretty problem free, Jerry.... do you see some possible issues with installation? Or just predicting that one of your other nuts will BREAK OFF?!?!? HAHAHAHA. Wow, this thread is getting nutty alright.

Good job Jerry, Joe and Jeff.
