holy cow, too bad I went to the hill climb this weekend again on my only party weekend of the year. lol. um yeah wish I knew ya needed that torch. I got plenty of propane right now as well. And those bits I have are the Black and Decker ones, with the exception of that 3/4" and 1/2" bits I have.

whatever works. what i have isn't. my arms are dead and neck is killing me, so i' done for a while. supposedly off fri-sat-sun. really wanted to get the exhaust hurdle cleared so i just had to worry about the fuel crap and plenum stuff.

I feel for you rusted bolts AND exhaust. Each one is bad in itself, but when they are on the same thing, You can really have your hands full.

I got a hacksaw with lots of use. I cut it and just take it to a mechanic here that does exhaust work on the side and he will repair it for me and flare so I can rig it up enough to get to him and get it welded or repair it the correct way, when I get it running.

Those hang ups are frustrating. You about got it whipped. You are making progress.

I looks like you nearly have the flange cleaned up, but if it fights you much more here is my 0.02.

1) Get what's left of that bolt hot, put a punch on it and hit it with a BFH!

2) If that doesn't work, or if the flange just gets too mangled after all the rust, wailing and drilling, then you could simply cut the pipe a few inches behind the flange and an exhaust shop can weld up a new flange and pipe that slips over your existing pipe where you cut it. You should have all the header and Y pipe joints welded any way, so it would just be one more.

3) OR, if the rust you are dealing with is any indication, the rest of the exhaust may be pretty long in the tooth. If so, cut all the old exhaust out, and drive it to your exhaust shop with nuthin' but the Thorley Y pipe and O2 sensor and have them run new 2.25" pipe to the back with a new muffler and cat (or maybe no cat depending on your emissions laws).

Lastly, if you do ditch the old rusty catalytic converter, keep it. Those things are worth real money and the salvage on that would go a long way towards purchasing the new pipe work

I've been lurking and reading both your build and your sons. Awesome job on both! If the cat give you too much trouble or is rusted beyond repair like mine, you can pick one of these up from eBay.

My flanges on my cat and headpipe were so rusted that a new gasket won't seal it correctly. My exhaust from Dave's Offroad didn't come in yet so it's still sitting on my table. I'm either going to have a flange welded to the "cat" or have the exhaust welded together.

The stock cat is definitely worth a few bucks so definitely scrap it for the cash to recoup some money.

1st of all the PFA against Logan says he has to keep all sassy stuff here and can't come any closer than Oregon.

2nd-ly.....Rusky...love that pipe. CAT looks good....flange is actually good...may throw a 2nd gasket on to make sure it seals....or aybe not. I'm gonna give it the business with the grider to get it perfect....it's what I do......i'm pretty OCD about the cleaning stuff, especially when it's a PITA part that I want to avoid touching.

Mark.......hehehehe....glad the back and forth keeps ya smiling.

better mood today. monday's are especially horrific for me at work for many reasons, but it's always good to get it over with.

hey man.....I know about the welding thing but MAK92 had issues with warranty because he welded. gonna do everything to NOT weld.

everything forward of the CAT is gone.....done...removed.....just need to ake the connection from the headers to the cat.
