starter back on. transmission bolts...most of them are torqued. doing everything i can to NOT get under the truck.

ready to bleed the clutch...."borrowed" tubing on the bleeder screw. going to read up on the procedure. here's hoping nothing falls apart.

1 piece of advise, make sure the other end of the bleeder tubing is in fluid otherwise you tend to such in air when bleeding. Just like with brakes.

ooops...nope. not oops.

wasn't sure what the book meant by putting the other end of the tube in "fluid" so I used (wasted) brake fluid. having never done this before, i wasn't sure how this all worked. but, truthfully, it's simple enough to do.

and, with that, it's done. works just like it should too.

yay.

many cursewords were uttered due to this G-d part

and together

and this

and my contraption. at least the stupid brake lines that have been in my way the whole while came in handy for something

break time (i mean, do what the wife wants me to do for the next little while until i get tired of her) and then we will go back out.

I don't like to give up...ever.

I REALLY want to do this ourselves, so it was with a big slice of humble pie that I asked Brandon to come here. he can stand-down until the next episode.

still basking in the victory.

next logical step is to finish torquing the transmission bolts and then the motor mounts. then we will probably do the passenger's header.

preliminarily....no PS pump or a/c pump in the way. really my only worry is to try to not man-handle them too much (wearing cotton gloves while doing it) and to not snag on the brake lines and fuel lines.

motor mounts torqued

most of the transmission torqued.

passenger's side header temp'd into place.....VERY CLOSE stuff in there.

1st pic is for Logan...

a "born on" date

and the 505 stamp

touching, and will have to be pulled away

brake lines are no longer an issue, clutch line was not an issue. brake lines running ABOVE the header....not as close as they look, will probably shield them as well.

header is almost 1'' away from the starter. not enough for an issue I am told. probably will shield it anyways

and there ya have it. had to take the top studs out and the back-most bottom stud to wiggle it in.

off to go watch fireworks....Brandon, if you are reading this, Nanticoke puts on a decent show.....call me....my mom has front row seats from her house.

YES, READ UP AND THEN SOME! Seriously....that is NOT something you wanna 'WIGGLE BACK OUT'.... Not a "Wake up, Coffee, 20 minutes later, POOF" kinda job! lol. BE CAREFUL with that wiring...isn't that where all the 2-into-1 wiring in the harness is for the injectors on the 3.0? MAN that would realllllllllly stink to melt those free or something, eh? lol.

You'll get it, you've REALLY impressed me with your 'I can do this' perseverance! I know, .....Brandon's a big help, too, hahahaa...but still, you've really come LIGHT YEARS, Jerry, ...I'm impressed! (I know, not saying much from me, ...but I do pay attention! hahaha)

thanks Mark. I'll accept all compliments AFTER this is running. Until then, I consider myself a putz who is following instructions and doing my best.

this picture shows what I mean by re-plumbing. EGR and REED valve need to be mounted here (honestly not sure WHAT the REED valve is right now....EGR, yep, had that in my hand just now looking at it)...EGR mounts into the intake plenum as well, so no cutting is going to happen until AFTER the intake plenum is on for good. I keep on reminding myself that these are headers intended to be shoe-horned into place on a running motor.

going to temp the wiring harness / fuel lines etc back into place shortly to make sure we don't have any issues with snagging and such and then, once I am assured everything will reach and fit, may just start on the injector install / fuel rail install and intake plenum install.

on a bad note.....all of a sudden found a ground wire laying on the floor last night. we are thinking it got snagged off of the wiring harness which is flopped across the front in the passenger's side / battery area of the engine bay and hanging over the grill. going to have to scour some pics to see if I can see where it came from. that's not cool.
