realtree88 88 toyota project build up
First off new here. But I am rebuilding a 88 toyota pickup. Right now it has a 3" body lift a 4" suspension lift with shackles that adds another 2 or 3" sitting 35" pro comp mud tires. It has a dropped valve but I bought a 88 toyota 4runner as a donor. I tore everything out and took out the stock dash out of the pickup and swapped it with the one that was in the 4runner. I also swapped out the cluster. as of now I still gotta paint the inside of the cab. Take the dash back out to hydro dip the dash in realtree camo. Then run all wires to stero and kc off road lights. I take it in next month to have the motor swap done along with new gaskets water pump timing kit. Fuel pump and a couple other little things done. Once I figure out to upload pictures I'll get them up.

I myself have an 88' so I'm interested in seeing those pictures man. The best way to post pictures is to upload them to an external host such as "photobucket" or "flickr" than just add the img or url code to the post in the forum.

See if these pictures will work. Here's the truck in building it had a 3" body lift 4" suspension lift and shackles sitting on 35" pro comp mud tires as of now it has a dropped valve.
but I picked up a 88 4runner sr5 that just needs a valve cover gasket and everything else is good on it. Here's a few pictures of that.

Last weekend I tore the dash and everything out of the pickup and replaced it with the one out of the 4runner everything bolted right up I also took the cluster out of the 4runner and put it in the pickup.
Here's some pictures of the process.
Here's the pickup with all the stock interior.

And after I tore everything out

this is with the sr5 dash and cluster bolted in

It's the exact same thing just in better shape the the one out of the pickup.
Then these are the pictures of some of the of interior that I redid.
Before

During

And after

this weekend I will have the rubber sprayed in and the seats out of the 4runner installed. Ill put pictures of that up when I get it done.

The pickup is nice dude, seems like the 4runner has seen some better days though. But the sr5 interior out of the 4runner in the pickup will look good and you're making some good progress. I also wanna swap my interior for sr5 interior sometime during my build because the gauge cluster in the sr5s are better and my dash and bench seat have seen better days.

Thanks for the kind words. By next month I'll have everything done. Before you take everything out take two screws out on the bezel pop them off on both trucks and look to make sure there both driven the same. It'll save you a headache.

I didn't get to work on the truck much last weekend. But I got to for a hour or so before it started raining. But here's a little update on it.
I spayed in some truck bed linner. I got the driver seat out of the sr5 and put into the pickup.
I was looking where the radio goes in and there are 4 connectors. I found out what two of them are but I have no idea what the two plastic ones go to. I'm guessing one is for the radio. But anyone have a clue to what the other one would be? They were unhooked when I got it. I was thinking it was the over drive but the connectors didn't hook up. Here's a picture of them
Here's one without me holding them.
I just don't know what the two plastic ones go to. Thanks for your input on those. But today I will have the other seat put in and the doors from the sr5 switched over to the pickup.

Well been working on the truck since about noon I the passenger seat out of the sr5 and went to put it on and come to find out The brackets are about 3 or 4" to short and I need to cut off a piece of the bracket to get it to fit with the new brackets I'm going to rig up. I got the doors of the sr5 and put on my pick up.
poor people have poor ways lol had to use my patio table and some bricks as supports to hold up the door since I gotta do everything by myself. But it worked out.
And here's the passenger door put on. I got the driver side on as well. But not enough room to take a decent picture.
im off to a buddies to get that bracket cut then to come back to my shop and make a couple brackets so I can get my seat it and put my center console in. Then it'll be done until. I take my dash out to get dipped in realtree AP camo. Then just little things like in dash dvd player and 2 10" subs and boxes. Then amp wires ran.

Oh on the wire connectors. I took some of the dash apart and found out one connector goes to my clock the other one goes to the cig lighter. And I'm guessing the other one is to the radio. I how anyways.

Got a question and its driving me crazy trying to figure it out since I'm at work and can't look at it. I talked to my buddy that had the truck before me and he said it didn't have cruise control. But the stock dash had a whole cut out exactly where the cruise control was on the 4runner and it was the right size for the switch. and I'm almost 100% sure there was a connector there when I swapped out the dash from the 4runner. And plugged it in. Will it fry anything if it is plugged when I start the truck? Or will it mess anything up if it's not plugged in? You can see in the pics above what I'm talking about. The reason I'm worried about it is because I'm dropping about 1800 in getting the motor out of the 4runner fixed up and put in my truck. I just don't wanna run into any electrical problems.
